Rocky, STAR #2061

Rocky came to STAR from a shelter in Louisiana and HW+. Fast forward a few months and his life just took a turn for the BEST!  He’s heading home with Kerry, and we are so happy for him and his new family.  Thank you, Nancy for shepherding this good boy back to health and another great foster job.

Ready to have your heart stolen?  Rocky is ready for the job!! This good boy came to STAR from a shelter in Louisiana. He tested positive for heartworms and was in need of full vetting. He’s since been given all the TLC and vetting as needed – now ready to find his forever home.

Rocky is a happy boy; his tail is always wagging and he’s ready to be a part of whatever you’re doing at all times.  He has been neutered, chipped and is current on his vaccinations.

He’s about two to three years old, weighs about 45 pounds and has the bluest of eyes. He gets along well with his Aussie roommates (male and female) and leans to the submissive side. He does not have a high prey drive – though squirrels are not brave enough to test it out.  He pulls a bit on a leash, but manageable – a minor work in progress.

He is crate and house trained and well behaved. He loves people, he especially loves to stand up and give you hugs around your waist. He is a real charmer!

He has not been tested around cats or children – so slow intros will be key.

If you are interested in learning more about this good boy and potentially adopt, the first step is to fill out an adoption application at the link below. His foster home is in Houston.
Please Take Time to Read: 1) We do not deliver dogs to adopters. You must be able and willing to come meet the dog in their foster home. 2) A home visit by one of our STAR volunteers is a required part of our adoption program. Adoptions outside of Texas are rare because of these requirements. 3) You must have a secure fence in place, and we are not fans of apartments for this breed, nor homes where the dogs will be home alone 8+ hours daily. 4) All STAR dogs are adopted to be inside pets and family members only. 5) Your current and/or past pets in the home must have proof of being kept up to date on vaccinations and Heartworm prevention. 6) We do not adopt to families with children under the age of 6. 7) The adoption fee is $300 and trust us, we spend that or much more on dogs to get them vetted – all STAR dogs will be neutered/spayed, up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, heartworm negative, and on monthly heartworm prevention. If you already have an application on file with us, you can contact us to let us know you are interested.

Rocky was an owner release to a shelter in Louisiana and is now safely tucked into his foster home in Katy. He’s a very sweet and handsome red merle male with blue eyes and a full tail. We estimate him to be 2-3 years old. We’ll get him to the vet and evaluated – and he may be available sometime late January.

UPDATE:  Sadly, Rocky tested positive to HW which is preventable with a monthly chewable, but we see this often with dogs that have been dumped or pulled from the shelter. We will treat him, and he may be available in early March.
