Molly, STAR #2111

Sweet Miss Molly has found her home with the Thompson family. She’ll get a great backyard to play in while she watches the golfers go by and lounge in the sun. She’ll get to be an only dog for now – but who knows… there may be a second STAR dog in their future! Thank you, Brandi for fostering and helping this shy girl come out of her shell and to Janis for the home visit.

❤️ From shy little shadow to shining star – Molly is ready to find the family to call her own. 🐾

Molly may be a little shy, but underneath that cautious exterior is a sweet, intelligent puppy just waiting to blossom. She’s got those super cute freckles and loving eyes that draw you in!

This beautiful 5-month-old Australian Shepherd came to STAR after being surrendered to a shelter in Kerrville along with several other dogs. While she arrived physically healthy, the world was still a very big and scary place for her. Since moving into her foster home, Molly has been learning that people can be kind, routines can be comforting, and love is something she can trust.

Every day brings new victories for this brave girl. What started as a puppy who was too frightened to approach people has become a puppy who happily takes treats from her foster family’s hands, accepts gentle pets and brushing, and eagerly watches the household activity from a safe distance. She’s incredibly smart and continues to make steady progress as her confidence grows.

Molly’s favorite place is outdoors, where she’ll happily lounge in the shade, soak up the sunshine, and enjoy the sights and sounds of the yard. She absolutely adores other dogs and lights up when it’s time to run, play, and occasionally “borrow” a toy from her canine friends. Because she looks to other dogs for reassurance, we’d love to see her join a home with a friendly, easygoing dog who can help show her that life is pretty wonderful.

At night, Molly sleeps quietly in her crate without barking or fussing. She’s learning household routines and continues to grow more comfortable with the humans around her. While she’s still timid and will need a patient family willing to let her move at her own pace, her progress so far has been remarkable.

Molly isn’t looking for perfection – she’s looking for someone who will celebrate the little victories, offer gentle encouragement, and give her the time she needs to become the confident dog she’s meant to be. In return, you’ll get the privilege of watching a shy puppy transform into a devoted companion.

We hesitate to say how big she’ll get as we don’t really know which dog was her mom and dad. Based on her adorable big paws – likely on the larger size for a female standard breed Aussie.

Molly is fully vaccinated and microchipped. She’ll be adopted with a Spay Contract clause, for a spay at/around 1 year of age (STAR will help pay!). Her foster home is in San Antonio. For next steps, fill out an adoption application and we’ll be in touch.
IMPORTANT: We do not deliver dogs to adopters – you must be able and willing to come meet the dog in their foster home. A home visit by one of our STAR volunteers is a required part of our adoption program and thus, adoptions outside of Texas are rare because of these two requirements. You must have a secure, tall fence in place, and we are not fans of apartments for this breed, nor homes where the dogs will be home alone 8+ hours daily. All STAR dogs are adopted to be inside pets and family members only and all current or past pets in the home must have proof of being kept up to date on vaccinations and Heartworm prevention. The adoption fee is $300 and trust us, we spend that or much more on dogs to get them vetted – all STAR dogs will be neutered/spayed (exception for puppies under age 1), up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, heartworm negative, and on monthly heartworm prevention. If you already have an application on file with us, you can contact us to let us know you are interested.

Molly is a 16-week old black tri female puppy with the prettiest eyes and cutest freckles.  She was surrendered to the Kerrville Animal Shelter along with 7 other dogs. So far, she is very timid and shy.  We can’t wait for her to come out of her shell.   She will get all the love and attention in her foster home in San Antonio.  Molly should be ready for adoption towards the end of May.
