Lucy Lu, STAR #2097

Sweet Lucy Lu has been adopted by Penn and Valerie! They were missing having a dog in their family – and we are so glad they reached out to STAR. They have had an Aussie before and know she’ll be a great, active companion. Lucy will get to live a charmed life in Texas, with plans for hiking in Colorado, too! Thank you, Tracy for the home visit and to Lisa for a great foster job.

AVAILABLE DOG – Lucy Lu #2097
Lucy Lu is a fun-loving, energetic 1-yr-old blue merle female, weighing in at 43 pounds and glorious, fluffy tail. With her big personality and playful spirit, she brings joy and entertainment wherever she goes.
Lucy absolutely loves toys – especially when she can turn playtime into a game of chase. She has a hilarious habit of “borrowing” toys from her dog friends and zooming around the yard, inviting them to join in a spirited game of tag. She thrives in an active home with another playful dog or a family ready to keep her engaged.
While she isn’t a big barker, Lucy will alert you when strangers approach. She is very friendly when meeting new people and enjoys attention and affection, often curling up next to you on the couch for snuggles after a day of play.
Lucy is still young and learning, so she’ll need a committed adopter to continue with her positive-rewards based training. She is smart and eager to learn, responding well to positive reinforcement like small treats. Because of her age and energy level, she would do best in a home without small children.
She is doing great with potty habits when given regular outdoor access and will go to the door when she’s ready to come back inside. Lucy is also crate trained and finds comfort in her crate, especially when it’s made cozy and den-like.
Lucy will require a secure, fully fenced yard, as she is still a bit of a free spirit. A harness is strongly recommended for walks while she is still learning the ropes of leash skills.
She gets along well with other dogs and has not shown food aggression in her current home, though slow introductions are always encouraged. She has not yet been tested with cats.
Lucy Lu is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, and ready to find her forever home. If you would like to learn more about her, please fill out an application on our website.
Lucy Lu is an 11-month-old blue merle female weighing 43lbs. She was turned in by her owners for having too much energy and not enough time to give her. She is a lucky girl today because she is now a STAR dog! She will be vetted and evaluated in the San Antonio area and should be ready for adoption towards the end of April.
