Griffin, STAR #2124

We have the BEST news! Griffin will be staying with his foster family forever and we just could not think of a better life for this good boy. He was found as a stray, and the owner was found, but allowed STAR to keep him and get quickly to work on treating his heavy heartworm status. He was a very sick boy and while he’s still got aways go with treatment and recovery, the Azcarate family are in it to win it! They will give him an absolutely lovely homelife where he has two fur buddies to boot. Thank you to this family for all their dedication to Griffin.

Griffin is a handsome 2-year-old red tri male and weighs 55lbs. He came to STAR as a stray found in the San Antonio area. So far, we know he is a happy go lucky boy and loves all people and other dogs. Griffin will be evaluated and vetted in South Texas and might be available for adoption late June.

If this is your dog, be prepared to show proof via photos and vet records and pay our expenses to date.

UPDATE 6.5.2026:  Griffin is heavy heartworm positive and we found he did have a microchip that led to a previous owner (he went missing from this owner over a year ago and was reported missing – microchip & registration for the win!). He may be closer to 3 years of age.  TBD on if this dog will be released to STAR for treatment or return to his owner.

Update 6.7.2026: The owner has released this dog to STAR, and we will start on a heartworm treatment protocol immediately. Given he is heavy +, it will take several months to get him back to health.
