Chicago, STAR #2136

Happy news to share – Chicago has found his human and is off to live a great life. He and his new owner, Jay, will enjoy all of the outdoor adventures that Austin has to offer along with day trips in the hill country. This is Jay’s first dog, and we know he’ll be an Aussie fan forever as Chicago is Auss-some and ready to show him all the love. Thank you, Fritz for fostering and to Mary for the home visit.

💙 Meet Chicago, a handsome 6-year-old, 50-pound Blue Merle Australian Shepherd with a gentle soul, wonderful manners, and a heart full of love.

Chicago (aka “Chi-Chi”) came to STAR after his family made the difficult decision to put his needs first. With a toddler and an infant at home, they realized they could no longer give him the time and attention he deserved. Their loss is another family’s opportunity to welcome an incredible companion into their lives.

Chicago has settled beautifully into his foster home in the San Antonio area, where he has proven himself to be an easy, adaptable boy. He gets along wonderfully with his four canine foster siblings without a hint of conflict. While he enjoys being part of a pack, he would be just as happy as the only dog in a home where he can soak up all the love and attention.

One of Chicago’s favorite pastimes? Rolling around in the grass with pure joy! It’s impossible not to smile watching him wiggle around, completely content with life. He’s also an exceptionally quiet gentleman and his foster family has yet to hear him bark.

Inside the house, Chicago has impeccable manners. He’s fully house-trained, doesn’t grab things that don’t belong to him, and can be trusted to have free roam of the house. He even enjoys curling up in his foster sister’s crate for a cozy nap, proving that sometimes the best seat in the house is borrowed.

Chicago is always ready for an adventure. He loves car rides, walks beautifully on a leash, and is happiest simply spending time with his people. Whether you’re heading out on errands, taking a scenic drive, or relaxing at home, Chicago is content just being by your side.

Best of all, Chicago is ready to start the next chapter of his life. He is fully vaccinated, neutered, microchipped, heartworm negative, and on monthly heartworm prevention, so all he needs now is a family to call his own.

If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate, low-maintenance companion with wonderful manners and a loving personality, Chicago may be the perfect match. He’s ready to trade his foster home for a forever home where he can enjoy life’s simple pleasures like rolling in the grass, riding in the car, and most importantly, sharing his heart with someone who will love him forever.

Please complete an application to as a next step toward adoption. His foster home is in Pearland.

IMPORTANT: We do not deliver dogs to adopters. You must be able and willing to come meet the dog in their foster home. A home visit by one of our STAR volunteers is a required part of our adoption program. Adoptions outside of Texas are rare because of these requirements. You must have a secure fence in place, and we are not fans of apartments for this breed, nor homes where the dogs will be home alone 8+ hours daily. All STAR dogs are adopted to be inside pets and family members only and all current or past pets in the home must have proof of being kept up to date on vaccinations and Heartworm prevention. The adoption fee is $400 and trust us, we spend that or much more on dogs to get them vetted – all STAR dogs will be neutered/spayed, up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, heartworm negative, and on monthly heartworm prevention. If you already have an application on file with us, you can contact us to let us know you are interested.

INTAKE:  Chicago is a 6 year-old blue merle male and weighs 50lbs.  His owners made the difficult decision to release him to STAR after they started a family.  With a toddler and an infant in the house, they knew Chicago needed a home that could give him the attention he deserved.  Chicago will be evaluated in the San Antonio area and should be ready for adoption in late July.
