ADOPTED
Chester, STAR #2145
Chester has been adopted! He caught the eye of STAR Alum’s Clarence and Robin and we love this match. He gets a fur buddy in Sydney, and she’ll show him the ropes around the house and keep him busy – and we know this young pup will keep her busy too. Thank you, Brian and Jenni for fostering and all you have done to help us with brining in, loving on and finding wonderful homes for STAR dogs.
Meet Chester! 🐾
Chester is a young red merle Aussie with a huge personality and an even bigger love for his people. He’s playful, confident, curious, great with other dogs, and absolutely loves people, but more than anything, Chester is a Velcro dog who just wants to be wherever his pack is.
My favorite thing about Chester is how ridiculously cuddly he is. I can pick him up, put him exactly where I want him, and that’s just where he stays. On my chest? Perfect. Sharing my pillow? Sounds good. Little spoon? Even better. He’ll happily curl up against you and stay there for hours. For a puppy with plenty of energy when it’s time to play, he has an incredible off switch when it’s time to relax.
He’s also remarkably good with strangers. I recently took him to Zilker Park, and instead of barking at people or running up to everyone he saw, Chester calmly wandered from group to group, walked into the middle, sat down, and basically said, “Okay, you may all pet me now.” 😂 He loves attention without being obnoxious about asking for it.
Chester gets along wonderfully with other dogs, loves cats, and has even proven himself trustworthy around chickens – he doesn’t chase them. He’s the kind of dog who fits naturally into a house with other animals and genuinely seems happiest when he has a whole pack around him, whether they have two legs or four.
Of course, he’s still a puppy, and he isn’t perfect. His two current hobbies that I could personally do without are barking when he’s left alone and digging in the water bowl like he’s searching for buried treasure. He definitely prefers companionship to solitude and will need someone willing to continue working with him on being comfortable alone.
Ultimately, Chester is a sweet, affectionate, social little Aussie who wants one thing more than anything else: to be part of the pack. If you’re looking for an independent dog who prefers his own space, Chester probably isn’t your guy. But if you want a little shadow who loves people, dogs, cats, and apparently even chickens—and will let you position him like a stuffed animal when it’s time for bed—you might have found your dog.
Chester is house trained, neutered, microchipped, fully vaccinated, and current on heartworm prevention. He’s currently fostered in Austin and ready to find his forever home. If you’d like to learn more about Chester or are interested in adopting him, the first step is to complete an adoption application at the link below.
Chester is the first pup to be introduced from our Louisiana Baker’s dozen plus 1 group.
He is a stunning four month old red merle male and weighs 27 pounds. Although his start was not anything he should’ve endured, he is showing us how resilient he is. He is a happy, healthy and fun loving pup and settling in nicely with his littermate and foster siblings. Chester is neutered and up-to-date on all vaccinations. We want to take some time with this sweet boy to make sure he gets the proper socialization before being available for adoption. He is being fostered in the Austin area and will be posted as available when we think he is ready. Stay tuned!
