Aislin was happily adopted today by the Margolis family, who could not have been a more perfect family for such a sweet girl. She will have a human sibling and two Aussie siblings, Rocky and Dakota. She very nicely loaded up into the car to drive them back to Houston !!! Many thanks to Fran for contacting STAR, to Erica for the home visit and to the Gunther family for fostering Aislin. Great job everyone.

Available Dog Aislin, STAR # 1289
Aislin is a 45 lb. red tri female, approximately 2 years old. She is spayed, current on her vaccinations and microchipped. Her foster home is in Austin. Below is the bio from her foster mom.

“Aislin, true to her name, is a sweet lass rescued from peril. She was found by a good Samaritan, wandering on the side of the highway, skinny and sad. She must have had puppies at some point so she has a little of the Mama dog instinct – what’s hers is hers and she will be your constant companion, making sure nothing dangerous gets close. And of course, her people are her favorites! She is still growing out the coat she lost from having the puppies so she is super soft and snuggly.

She does need a little time to warm up to new dogs. This is pretty typical of mother dogs. She will let you (and them) know if she needs more time before the meeting. Once she’s familiar with a dog she does enjoy the play of all kinds. She’s learning how to share with tug toys and has come a long way! She even met a cat last week on a home visit and didn’t care at all.

She is a very sensitive soul and raised voices to cause her to cower and crawl. In her foster home, she’s being instructed on how to remove herself when she’s not happy. Her crate is her safe and happy place so it’s highly recommended she always has access to one. Many afternoons are filled with quiet naps in her crate. Of course, there is no need to latch the crate as she is perfectly housebroken and she doesn’t chew inappropriate things unless you want to keep stuffies on hand! She’s a champion shredder of all things fabric (for dogs of course – she doesn’t even touch fur-lined slippers) and absolutely adores squeaky toys and is learning to eat from interactive toys for mental exercise.

She is the ideal Aussie – sweet, laid back girl in the home who loves to cuddle but wanting to hit the trails with you at every chance. I guarantee she is what your heart desires! Aislin enjoys fetch and chase in the yard and does well on the lead. In fact, once she’s bonded to you (which happens very quickly) you likely won’t even need that leash. She rarely barks and only when she hears others barking in the neighborhood or the doorbell rings.

I hope you’ve enjoyed reading about Aislin. Tonight, with this rainy, cold weather we are going to curl up on the couch and watch some football. I know she’ll keep me nice and toasty and give me plenty of kisses while I give her all the belly rubs she wants.”
