Rolly, STAR #2095

Rolly is the kind of dog who makes an impression the moment you meet him – big, fluffy, and full of heart. This handsome Red Tri Australian Shepherd, estimated to be 5–6 years old and about 65 lbs, has come a long way since being found abandoned in the Nutty Brown area of Dripping Springs alongside his buddy, Pelly. When he arrived, his coat was matted and he was nursing a sore paw—but with some dedicated TLC and veterinary care, Rolly is now healthy, comfortable, and looking better every day.

What hasn’t changed is his incredibly gentle nature. Rolly is all about his people! He loves to be close, soak up affection, and give it right back. He has that irresistible, soulful face that seems to say “thank you” every time you look at him. He’s well-mannered in the home, fully house-trained, and has proven to be an easy companion. He’s great with other dogs, does well with kids, and shows no signs of food aggression. He’s also a calm traveler and rides nicely in the car.

Rolly would benefit from a little leash work, as he can get enthusiastic on walks, and he could stand to lose a few pounds, but he’s otherwise a very well-rounded, easygoing dog who just wants to be loved. While he hasn’t been tested with cats, slow introductions would be the way to go. Though he hasn’t spent time with very young children, his gentle demeanor suggests he’d do well with respectful kids.

He’s fully vetted, neutered, microchipped, and on heartworm prevention, and now ready to settle into his forever home. Rolly shares a special bond with his friend Pelly, and while it would be wonderful to see them adopted together, he would also do just fine as a solo dog or joining another canine companion.

If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate, and steady presence in your life, Rolly might just be your perfect match. His foster home is in Dripping Springs. Please complete an application to be considered as an adopter, learn more about and meet him.

IMPORTANT: We do not deliver dogs to adopters. You must be able and willing to come meet the dog in their foster home. A home visit by one of our STAR volunteers is a required part of our adoption program. Adoptions outside of Texas are rare because of these requirements. You must have a secure fence in place, and we are not fans of apartments for this breed, nor homes where the dogs will be home alone 8+ hours daily. All STAR dogs are adopted to be inside pets and family members only and all current or past pets in the home must have proof of being kept up to date on vaccinations and Heartworm prevention. The adoption fee is $300 and trust us, we spend that or much more on dogs to get them vetted – all STAR dogs will be neutered/spayed, up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, heartworm negative, and on monthly heartworm prevention. If you already have an application on file with us, you can contact us to let us know you are interested.

Rolly is a red tri male and weighs 65 pounds. He is estimated to be between 5 and 6 years old. Rolly was found wandering along with an Aussie buddy (Pelly) in the Friendship Ranch area – FM 1826 and Nutty Brown Rd. Thank you to the good Samaritan that took them in and looked for an owner. Neither dog was chipped nor had any tag information. Both dogs have been vetted, and they will be fostered in the Dripping Springs area. They may be available for adoption mid-April. If this is your dog, you will be asked to provide proof of ownership via vet records and photos, and to reimburse us for our expenses to date.
