Summer, STAR # 1658
Our nine year old energizer bunny has been adopted by Larry and will live in Magnolia.. She will have an Aussie playmate, Max.. and they can play fetch all day.. Thanks to Melissa, Mack, Joyce and Nancy for transport.. Thanks to Gaylene for the home visit and huge thanks to Nancy for opening her home for her first foster dog..
This is what Summer’s foster mom wants to tell you about Summer..
Summer is a 9 year old, red merle lady, around 40 pounds who defies her age. She’s current on her shots, spayed, heartworm negative and microchipped.
Summer seems to have endless energy and will chase and return toys until your arms give out. If they are small enough she will gather multiple toys in her mouth to return at once to be thrown again. She is a professional squeaky toy squeaker remover. She’s not great at the drop part of the toy return but will eventually drop them or put them in your lap to throw for her.
She is a talker, and makes a great bark alarm. She is very alert and animated, always on the lookout.
She likes to cuddle and is always happy to see you, once she gets over her shyness. She sleeps in her crate overnight and just needs a little guidance to go in. She may grumble a bit initially but quiets down for the remainder of the night.
She knows what is hers and is not destructive of household items.
Summer loves treats as well and will catch them mid-air which is good as she doesn’t quite get the take gently part of treats.
Summer had a sprain on her left front foot when she was young that was not attended to properly so her foot turns out some. I call it her “ballerina foot” but it does not slow her down at all (no limp).
She is good around my 8 year old Aussie, but he mostly ignores her invitations to play.
She did not react to the Fourth of July fireworks or the recent storms other than to give a couple of barks at the booms and thunder.
She does counter surf if given the opportunity and is interested in all food that she smells. She is a nano second dog if you drop something. She does not aggressively beg, but will wait patiently wait by your feet or chair.
She has been groomed to even out her coat and the groomer said she behaved well and did not give them any trouble.
She is a good girl who just wants to be loved and play with toys.”
Summer is a 44 lb. red merle female.. Spunky 9 year old that got in trouble for herding the kids.. She will be groomed !!! vetted and evaluated by her foster home in Katy.. She should be available for adoption around the end of July..
