Remington, STAR #2164

Remmington has been adopted by the Wilmetti family. It was love at first sight and this family is so excited to have the ball of energy come to their home. This is their first STAR dog – so welcome to our STAR family. Thank you, Mandy for doing a great foster job and to Geneta for the home visit.

Meet Remi — Handsome, Happy & Ready to Run!

Remmington (Remi) is a stunning 9-month-old blue merle Aussie weighing about 50 pounds, with soulful brown eyes, a heart of gold and plenty of puppy energy. He’s curious, eager to learn and a true Velcro boy who loves being close to his people. Give him some affection and he’ll happily lean his entire body into you.

Remi’s favorite things? Running fast, chasing squirrels, wrestling with his Aussie foster brother, car rides, long walks…and did we mention running fast? He also takes his neighborhood watch duties seriously and may alert you to suspicious activity like blowing leaves.

This smart boy is crate trained, knows “sit,” takes treats politely and responds well to direction. He’s still a young Aussie, so excitement can mean jumping and leash pulling, and he’ll benefit from continued training and plenty of physical and mental activity.

Remi can be cautious with new people, particularly men, and may bark at first, but his desire to make friends usually wins out quickly. Once you’re in, you’ve got yourself a devoted shadow.

Remi does great with other dogs and would enjoy a playful canine buddy, although he could also thrive as an only dog with an active family. Cats are probably not his best match—he’s just a little too interested in them.

With structure, activity, patience and lots of love, Remi is ready to become someone’s adventure buddy, running partner and very best friend.

Remi is house trained, microchipped, fully vaccinated, and current on heartworm prevention. He will be adopted out with a neuter contract (we will help cover this expense). He is currently fostered in a home in Hockley. If you’d like to learn more about him or are interested in adopting, the first step is to complete an adoption application at the link below.
10 IMPORTANT THINGS:  1) We do not deliver dogs to adopters – you must be able and willing to come meet the dog in their foster home. 2) A home visit by one of our STAR volunteers is a required part of our adoption program and thus, adoptions outside of Texas are rare because of these two requirements. 3) You must have a secure fence in place, 4) we are not fans of apartments for this active breed 5) we do not adopt to families with children under the age of 6, 6) we will not adopt to homes where the dogs will be alone 8+ hours daily, 7) All STAR dogs are adopted to be inside pets and family members only, 8) All current or past pets in the home must have proof of being kept up to date on vaccinations and Heartworm prevention. 9) Once you have met a dog and decide you’d like to adopt, you have 7-days to adopt the dog – we do not hold dogs, so be ready to adopt when you apply.  10) The adoption fee is $400 and trust us, we spend that or much more on dogs to get them vetted – all STAR dogs will be neutered/spayed (unless puppy), up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, heartworm negative, and on monthly heartworm prevention.

Remington is an 8 month old blue merle male and weighs 50 pounds.  He was surrendered to STAR by a good samaritan that took him in and helped take care of him when his original family could no longer.

Remington will be fostered and vetted in the Houston area.  So far,  his foster mom thinks he’s pretty darn special.  This boy may not be going anywhere!  Stay tuned as we learn all about Remington!
