ADOPTED

Sadie, STAR #2087

Sadie is off to live an adventurous life with Mike. This wiggly, happy and energetic girl will get to be the only dog, enjoying all the attention. She already found the swimming pool, and we know she’ll keep Mike busy with throwing a ball, hiking, and being his shadow. Thank you, Julie for fostering.

Meet Sadie! This stunning ~2-year-old, 48-lb blue merle beauty is as sweet as she is eye-catching (with unique merle markings that make her truly one of a kind).

Sadie is a happy, energetic girl whose signature “butt wiggles” will make you smile every day. She’s the ultimate Velcro dog—always by your side, whether you’re heading to the kitchen, the couch, or out for an adventure. She loves toys, especially chasing a ball, and will happily remind you when it’s time to play with her adorable little “purr-garble” sounds.

She’s very people-focused and eager to please, often checking in for reassurance and guidance. While she’s curious about new people and dogs, she tends to stay close to her human and is more interested in you than anything else. Sadie can coexist with calm dogs that let her be “front-and-center” but would do best as an only dog or with a laid-back male companion—no other females, please. She prefers to be the boss when it comes to toys, treats, and attention. In her foster home, she resides with an older, smaller male dog and while there have been some scuffles over treats – they are co-existing fine.

At home, Sadie settles nicely and enjoys lounging nearby or at your feet. She’s affectionate, gentle with treats, and responds well to kind, consistent guidance. She has a sensitive soul and thrives with a confident, loving leader. She often looks to her human for guidance, approval and anticipating what is next on the agenda.

Sadie enjoys walks and outdoor adventures (she’s even tackled long hikes!), though she’s still polishing her leash skills and can be startled by loud noises. A harness is recommended while she continues to build confidence. Because she can get distracted by wildlife, she’ll need to stay on leash. She took a trip to an outdoor restaurant patio and did great – watching everyone with caution and curiosity.

She’s crate trained, house trained, and an excellent watchdog with a bark to alert you to visitors. With her speed and smarts, she could also excel in agility or frisbee.

Sadie would do best in a home without small children and with an adopter committed to providing structure, consistency, and lots of love. In return, you’ll get a loyal, wiggly, affectionate companion who just wants to be your #1.

Her foster home is south of Austin. She came to STAR fully vetted, already spayed and in excellent health. We have microchipped her and she’s on heartworm preventive, as with all our dogs.
Please complete an application to be considered as an adopter, learn more about and meet her.
IMPORTANT: We do not deliver dogs to adopters. You must be able and willing to come meet the dog in their foster home. A home visit by one of our STAR volunteers is a required part of our adoption program. Adoptions outside of Texas are rare because of these requirements. You must have a secure fence in place, and we are not fans of apartments for this breed, nor homes where the dogs will be home alone 8+ hours daily. All STAR dogs are adopted to be inside pets and family members only and all current or past pets in the home must have proof of being kept up to date on vaccinations and Heartworm prevention. The adoption fee is $300 and trust us, we spend that or much more on dogs to get them vetted – all STAR dogs will be neutered/spayed, up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, heartworm negative, and on monthly heartworm prevention. If you already have an application on file with us, you can contact us to let us know you are interested.
