ADOPTED
Rome, STAR # 1843
Rome has finally completed his heartworm treatment and been adopted by past adopters, Kim and Wayne .. They waited patiently for him to be totally healthy.. and are very excited for their new family member.. Thanks to Mindy for saving Rome and to Choe for fostering.. This good boy deserves a great home..
Rome is a smart and loving Aussie who is about 2 years old and weights 38 pounds. He is a complete sweetheart and will often roll over for belly rubs.
He will always be by your side and follow you from room to room. He likes to be on the couch and will often lay on every pillow possible.
He loves going on walks and behaves on the leash. He is sometimes distracted by other dogs passing by that he wants to play with. Rome is working on his recall. He does great in the house coming when called but can sometimes be distracted by the outside world. He knows how to “sit” and “lay down” and is a fast learner and very eager to please.
He enjoys playing outside in the yard but is working on brining the toy back to you. Rome plays alone well by throwing the toy up in the air for him to catch. When he is done being outside and playing, he will let you know by walking to the door and waiting to be let in.
Rome is a lover of water and will try to help assist you in watering your plants. He is house-trained and has no issues being left alone uncrated and always has the Aussie high-five to greet you when you return home. He sleeps well at night and is happy to rest by your side during the day. He is good on car rides and happy to jump in any car door that is open.
Rome loves to play with all dogs! He takes social cues from other dogs when they don’t want to play and often will back off. Rome gets small burst of energy but for the most part he will just relax by your side.
Rome is hesitant in unknown areas and weary of quick movement around him. Once he starts to get comfortable in his settings, his goofy and independent side comes out.
Rome is currently be fostered in Richmond, TX.
If you are interested in adopting Rome, please read about our adoption program (under Adopt on our website) and complete an application.
Red merle male approx. 2 years old and weighing 36 lbs. Owner unable to care for him. He will be vetted and evaluated by his foster home in Richmond. Sadly, Rome has Heartworms and so he will be treated by STAR and should be available for adoption around the middle of September.
