River, STAR #1877

River was adopted today by the Sokolich family – and this is their 4th STAR dog (Chloe #973, Benny #1723 and Pep #1813 (on left)). He’s “all smiles” as he heads out on his next adventure. Thank you, Sean and Kristin for yet another wonderful foster job!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

This is River – he was found in the River Plantation subdivision.  He has no chip, nothing found on Lost/Found pages.  He’s a handsome black tri male who looks to be approx. 1-2 years old and 40-45 lbs.  If this is your dog, please be prepared to prove he is yours and pay our expenses in getting him vetted.  He will be evaluated by his foster home in N. W. Houston and should be available for adoption around the end of January.

 

Early Update from Foster Home:

Cons:

  1. Counter surfer of course – PUPYY

Pros:

  1. House broken, in 1 day – accident once early on because cat was blocking dog door lol.
  2. Eats meals in crate (door open or closed).
  3. Car rider – LOVES it – sits with his head on the center console watching.
  4. Gets along with other dogs – NO ISSUES DETECTED
  5. Gets along with cats – However, still gets excited and chases them, causing them to run, which causes him to go into Aussie mode!
  6. Loves to cuddle.
  7. Okay on walks – pulls quite a bit.

Working on:

  1. Crate training – gets in with food or toys but won’t go in on command yet – trying to show him his room is safe from boogie cats.
  2. Leave it.
  3. Wait

Character:

When River arrived, he immediately had to have a bath. He was a trooper for a bath – but found that he has an extensive skin infection and multiple small punctures and slightly opened lacerations.  Will get that treated.

He’s so happy with an indoor life that all he does most of the day, is walk around the house with a toy in his mouth (that he never puts down unless sleeping or eating) and wiggling his butt off.

He’s trying to figure out which foster parent to attach himself too, so you will often find him at your feet if you have been ‘chosen’ for that moment in time.
