Rex, STAR #1942
Rex is home! The Hodges family came over to meet him and it was love at first sight. The family had recently lost their beloved Aussie, Bella and were ready to find another fur family member. Rex gets two human buddies – Eden and Paden who are ready to entertain with fun in the backyard, and mom may even turn him into a running buddy. Thank you, David and Nikki on transport and especially to Nancy for helping this boy go from stray to STAR royalty.
Rex is about 18 months old, neutered, heartworm negative and up to date on his vaccinations and around 48 pounds now. He’s a black tri with white face. Rex came to us as a wandering stray, underweight, matted (with sticker burs included) and a healing injury over his right eye. From his foster mom:
Despite his poor condition and situation prior to coming to STAR, he is a lovely dog and has such an appreciative, easy-going attitude. Baths are not his favorite, but he tolerates them well. Being in a house seemed to be a new experience for him but he took to it quickly. Being as smart as he is, he was easy to housetrain, and I would expect he would take to any training readily.
He goes to his crate easily and remains quiet for his overnight sleep. He has put on a few pounds but still has a couple of spots that need more padding. This should be easy as he has a great appetite and is not picky. Due to the mats and sticker burs, the back part of his coat is in a recovery mode and is a little thin in places.
He loves humans, but chickens, not so much (chased the chickens at his last place). He gets along well with the two resident Aussies, male and female around 9 years old. His foster pal (Moss) can be a bit rambunctious at times and he will put him in his place.
He has a tendency to jump up on you but has a great understanding of the word no and responds well. He likes to use his paws to get your attention and can be a little mouthy when excited. He is a sweet boy who just wants to be loved and to love you back.
To learn more about Rex, you must first fill out an application for adoption. His foster home is in Katy.
Country boy Rex was found roaming in N. E. Texas.. A black tri male, he is approx. 18 mos. and weighs 48 lbs.. and needs to gain some weight.. He will be vetted and evaluated by his foster home in Katy..He should be available for adoption around the middle of October pending his heartworm test results.
