Murphy, STAR #2023

Murphy has been adopted by the Davey family! He came to STAR as a stray, and an owner never came forward. This family recently lost their Aussie, Blue at age 17 and were missing having a fur companion in the home. Trips to the family ranch, walks and motorhome trips are in Murphy’s future and we love this match. Thank you, Sarah for caring for Murphy until we could find him a great home.

Meet Murph! Murph is the sweetest 2-year-old red merle Australian Shepard, around 40lbs. He was found as a stray and the owner unable to be located. Since becoming a STAR dog, he’s been fully vetted, neutered and microchipped – he’s ready to find his place to call home.
From his foster home:

Murph is full of love and has lots of it to give! The quickest way to his heart is through belly rubs. He has done great being around other dogs but would also be okay as the center of attention. For a young dog, he isn’t overly playful but enjoys chewing on a bone or finding himself with the occasional zoomies. He does great walking on the leash. But, more than anything, enjoys being around his people.

He is potty-trained and crate trained. However, he does sleep out in our room at night. Though he will occasionally “check in” during the night, he often finds a place to settle down and rests the whole night through. He has marked in the home a few times, which we expect will get better now that he’s neutered – something to keep an eye on while he’s getting settled and learning his surroundings.

He enjoys his dry kibble and is now also learning to like the occasional scrambled egg or table scrap. He has done great with our small children but would do better in a home where he doesn’t have to worry as much about accidentally knocking a toddler over [NOTE: STAR does not adopt to families with children under the age of 6]. He has not been introduced to cats – so slow and controlled introductions will be best.

He is great at “kennel up” and “sit” but we are still working on a few more basic commands like “down” or “off”. He took a trip to Dallas last week, did fine in the car and was such a sweet boy with the introduction he had to my parents dog.”

To learn more about and possibly meet Murph, please fill out an adoption application. Murph is in a foster home located in Conroe.
Murphy wandered up to a home and the finder has not been able to find an owner. If this is your dog, please contact us and be prepared to show proof of ownership and pay for any medical expenses incurred. He’ll be cared for in a foster home in Conroe and may be available late August.
