Kirby, STAR #2108

Kirby has been adopted by the Busetti family! He’s welcomed by Delila the beagle and a family ready give him all exercise and TLC that he’ll soak up! They’ve always been a two-dog home and after recently losing their English Mastiff, they took some time and then decided to contact STAR to find an Aussie match. From stray to STAR to home is what rescue is all about. Thank you, Clay and Elise for fostering and Mary for the home visit.

Meet Kirby — a 1.5-year-old red merle neutered male with a sweet, goofy, resilient personality. After spending weeks surviving around a local baseball field, Kirby has come a long way and is now thriving in foster care and discovering just how good life can be.

Kirby is currently on a refeeding plan as he continues gaining healthy weight and strength, but once fully filled out, we expect him to be around 55–60 pounds.

He’s incredibly affectionate, smart, playful, and loves being close to his people. Kirby has a mellow, easygoing personality balanced with a fun, goofy side that keeps everyone laughing. Whether he’s curled up beside you, tagging along on an adventure, or playing with his dog friends, he’s just happy to be included.

Kirby gets along well with other dogs and has really blossomed with consistency, patience, and love. He’s the kind of dog that makes himself part of the family very quickly.

Kirby’s foster home is in San Antonio. Since with STAR, he’s been fully vaccinated, is HW-, on heartworm preventative, and been neutered. Please complete an application to be considered as an adopter, learn more about and meet him.
IMPORTANT: We do not deliver dogs to adopters – you must meet the dog in their foster home. A home visit by one of our STAR volunteers is a required part of our adoption program. Because of these requirements, adoptions outside of Texas are rare. You must have a secure fence in place, and we are not fans of apartments for this breed, nor homes where the dogs will be home alone 8+ hours daily. All STAR dogs are adopted to be inside pets with family members only, and all current or past pets in the home must have proof of being kept up to date on vaccinations and Heartworm prevention. The adoption fee is $300 and trust us, we spend that or much more on dogs to get them vetted – all STAR dogs will be neutered/spayed, up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, heartworm negative, and on monthly heartworm prevention. If you already have an application on file with us, you can contact us to let us know you are interested.

Kirby is a precious 1-year old red merle male and weighs 38 pounds.  He was found wandering in the Missouri City area covered in fleas and severely underweight.  A good Samaritan took him in until we could locate the perfect foster for him.  He will be vetted and evaluated in the San Antonio area and should be ready for adoption towards the end of May.  Welcome to STAR, sweet boy!  Your new life begins now.
