Hershey, STAR # 1630

Hershey was pulled from MCAS and has recently finished her Heartworm treatment. Sara has recently received her Masters from Baylor and has a new job that she hopes to include our cuddly girl Hershey as a therapy dog..the timing was right for both of them.
STAR wants to thank Deb for the home visit and to thank her foster homes Jane and Christine.

Hershey is a smart energetic girl that has just completed
her heartworm treatment and is finally free to run.. She has
been estimated at three years old but may be younger.. and
she weighs 44 lbs. She is spayed, vaccinated and chipped.
Probably not good with cats.. excellent with older kids..
She does not like to share her stuff.. crate and food .. with
other dogs..Keep in mind, she’s been crated for the last month.

Below is the bio from her foster mom… If you are interested
in Hershey, please go to our website, read about Adoption and
submit an application.. If you already have one on file, please

Hi! My name is Hershey! I am a young, energetic Aussie! I love everyone I meet and I love to jump, so I’m going to need some guidance from my people. I know how to sit when my foster mom puts my leash on. I am house broken and crate trained, but I don’t love being in my crate during the day. Overnight I sleep very well in the crate   As soon as my foster mom gets up, I get to go outside and then I come inside for breakfast. I was eating in my crate during my heartworm treatment but now I get to eat in my foster mom’s room. I get a little possessive over my crate and my food, so I get to eat separately from my foster brother, Boomer. After breakfast, I get to go outside again! I love to go for walks but I pull on the leash until I have done my business and then I walk very nicely. I love to run and I am very fast. My foster home has chickens and I really love to run at their area and make them fly!! My foster family has to come get me to make me stop. I also love to sniff under the shed and the deck because I just know there are little critters under there! I check every time I go outside. My forever home should probably not have a cat… I don’t show any interest in playing fetch, so running is my main outlet. I just run and run!!! After we spend some time outside, I get to go back inside and I sniff everything. I don’t chew or get into things I am not supposed to but I will probably discover counter surfing at some point. That’s because I am really smart!! I do settle down and I am able to take a nap as long as my foster mom is close. I love to snuggle and have my belly rubbed!! When my foster mom goes to work and I have to be in the crate, I whine a lot. I could probably be trusted not in the crate but there is always someone from my foster family home so I haven’t gotten to test that yet. As far as my foster brother Boomer is concerned, I get a little jealous and sometimes get a little snarky about it. We have had one disagreement and I like to let him know that he is not allowed near my crate when I am in it.  So, that’s my typical day! I’m a very good girl and I love to snuggle! I will need some training and guidance but I am very smart and will pick it up really fast!

WEEKLY UPDATE FROM FOSTER MOM:

Hershey is doing great! She is a snuggle bug still. I had to stop writing this email because she climbed into my lap. She gives each of us hugs every morning and when we come home. She sleeps so well in her crate at night and lets me sleep in on the weekends. She loves to run and is pestering the chickens less every day. She is so curious about everything! She’s a wonderful little dog. She and Boomer are still having little disagreements here and there .  I think with a little help and training she would be ok with another dog. She tried to play with him but he takes it wrong and they never get to play. I’m sure part of it is that Boomer is old and crotchety now lol.
We are not keeping her!!! I want to start this by saying that.. Honestly, if we weren’t moving and most likely living with my parents and their dog, I would absolutely keep her. I guess that can be a character reference for her.
