Dilly, STAR #2099

Dilly’s story is amazing! He came to us from Dillingham, Alaska when he was left to fend for himself. A good Samaritan (with a pilot’s license!), reached out to us to see if we could help him if he got him to Texas, and we are so glad we said yes. He’s landed in a wonderful home with Wester and Abi who are excited to have him join their family. So many thanks to the team who helped him including Sheila, Scott and Nancy for fostering and the transport team who got him from Waco to Austin and then to Houston for FHO surgery to fix a hip injury. Teamwork makes our STAR dream work.
Dilly is a 2-year-old blue merle male and weighs approximately 50lbs. He has a beautiful full tail. He came to us all the way from Dillingham, Alaska (hence, the name Dilly) when he was abandoned by his family and left to fend for himself along with another female dog (Mishka, also now a STAR dog). Dilly will be evaluated and vetted in the Austin area and should be ready for adoption in early May.
UPDATE – we noticed Dilly favoring his back side after play and x-rays have revealed an ill-recovered pelvic fracture. It’s likely he was struck by a moving vehicle and injuries ignored. We’ll get him to an orthopedic specialty to see what we can do about it at this stage.
UPDATE – Dilly had FHO surgery and did great. He’s resting and recovering in a foster home in Houston.
