Birdie, STAR #2075

Birdie has been adopted by Rick and Amber! She came to STAR, along with sister, Rinna, as an owner release who was not getting enough attention and spending time outside… fast forward to today, our good girl gets a fun family to give her all the exercise, play, and love she deserves. Thank you to Beth for fostering.

Birdie is a lovely, red tri female at just 10 months old and 41lbs. She was released to STAR by an owner who wanted a better life for her vs. spending a lot of time outside. She’s been fully vetted, is negative for heartworms and will be adopted with a spay contract (reimbursement option provided.) From her foster mom:

Birdie is a precious, happy, curious, lovebug. All she wants to do is play with fur siblings, so an ideal home for her is a house with a fur buddy or two or more to hang with. Birdie is great with our cat and honestly just tries to play with him.

At 10 months old, Birdie is a smart little cookie, learning how to ring the bell to be let outside. She knows basic commands, sit, stay, night- night and crate- she goes in her crate at night easily and sleeps quietly all night, keeping it nice & tidy.

Birdie LOVES her toy stuffies & will play by herself throwing them around and trying to catch them.  She also loves un-stuffing them and dragging them around the house so keeping her busy is best – she’s not destructive at in our house or with our furniture which allows us to leave her unsupervised to roam just fine.

Birdie is a perfect mixture of playful pup and loving family doggie, at times thinking she’s just a lap dog. Birdie is shy at first & takes time to warm up to men, but after a few days she does just fine.

We have chickens and she’s quite curious and chases them (once got a mouth of feathers) – so don’t recommend she be around chickens. While she’s not been around children in her foster home, she was living with a child around 6 years old in original home with no issues reported.

If you’re looking for a smart, loving, playful pup who’s ready to be someone’s best friend, Birdie is your girl. Her foster home is in Spring Branch Texas (close to New Braunfels).

To proceed in learning more, fill out an application and we’ll be in touch.

IMPORTANT: We do not deliver dogs to adopters. You must be able and willing to come meet the dog in their foster home. A home visit by one of our STAR volunteers is a required part of our adoption program. Adoptions outside of Texas are rare because of these requirements. You must have a secure fence in place, and we are not fans of apartments for this breed, nor homes where the dogs will be home alone 8+ hours daily. All STAR dogs are adopted to be inside pets and family members only and all current or past pets in the home must have proof of being kept up to date on vaccinations and Heartworm prevention. The adoption fee is $300 and trust us, we spend that or much more on dogs to get them vetted – all STAR dogs will be neutered/spayed, up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, heartworm negative, and on monthly heartworm prevention. If you already have an application on file with us, you can contact us to let us know you are interested.

Birdie is a 10 month old red tri female and weighs approximately 40 pounds. Her owners wanted a better life for her.  She was spending lots of time in the backyard with her littermate sister.  Birdie is being fostered and evaluated in the Austin area and will go home with a spay contract.  She should be ready sometime in early March.
