Brooke, STAR #2067
Brooke, no Ellie has been adopted by Larry and Renee. She joins Lucky, a male border collie, to help keep the home lively and full of companionship. Welcome to the STAR alum family and thank you to Terry and Zee for fostering and to Sue for the home visit and transport. PIC COMING SOON!
Hi there! My official STAR name is Brooke #2067, but my foster family quickly learned that I respond best to “Suzy Q.” One Aussie head tilt and a full wiggle-butt later, the name stuck!
I’m a 4–5-year-old, 54-lb blue merle female with a beautiful wavy coat that’s growing back nicely after a fresh start. I have a full white collar and four white feet, and yes – I’m pretty proud of them. I was found hanging around a construction site in Lumberton, TX, and thanks to a kind Good Samaritan and STAR, my life changed for the better. Fun fact: I arrived at my foster home on National Australian Shepherd Day – how lucky is that?!
I’m already spayed and heartworm negative. Likely kept as an outside dog – her coat is somewhat brittle and had mats, but with good grooming and TLC, a gorgeous coat began shining through, and I’ve been thriving ever since.
I’m a very friendly, happy-go-lucky Aussie who loves people and other dogs, including strangers. It’s hard to look intimidating when your back end is doing constant wiggle-butt duty! If you kneel down to say hello, be prepared for kisses. I have a foster brother and while I like him more than he likes me, we get along well and mostly compete to see who can be the most “velcroed” to our humans.
I’m house trained and eat my meals in my crate, though I’m not a big fan of being left in it. At night, I have free run of the house and sleep wherever the mood strikes—because I’ve proven I can be trusted and just want to be close to my pack.
I enjoy going for walks and don’t pull on the leash, though my foster brother and I sometimes get tangled up. I’m working on my sit and stay commands and improving every day. I love car rides, especially because it means I’m going somewhere, and I settle quickly for the ride. I really don’t like being left behind, even if another human stays with me.
I haven’t been cat tested yet, and I only show mild interest in squirrels (mostly because my foster brother does). My recall is improving, especially when it involves the car! I have lots of toys and prefer them all out on the floor—just in case playtime suddenly happens. I can entertain myself, enjoy ice as a special treat (I’m fully trained to the ice dispenser sound!), and may occasionally investigate counters or trash cans if temptation is left too close to the edge.
I’m a joyful, affectionate girl with a big heart who’s ready to get lucky again and find my fur-ever home.
Brooke was found wandering in Lumberton, TX. A good Samaritan picked her up and was not able to locate an owner. She had no chip and no collar. She’s now a STAR dog and being fostered in Houston where we’ll get her vetted, evaluated and lots of TLC. If this is your dog, be prepared to show proof via photos and vet records and pay our expenses to date. She may be available for adoption late January.
