Aura, STAR # 1622

Aura, STAR # 1622

Congratulations to the O’Brien family and Aura.. These are past adopters who are open to the challenge that this sweet girl presents.. We look forward to updates and hearing about her progress.. Many thanks to foster mom, Kristen, who worked really hard getting Aura ready to be adopted..
Aura is a beautiful puppy and a lot of personality packed into her little body.. yet she is going to need a home that is willing to take on a project.. She needs additional socialization and constant supervision, patience and training.. She would do best with a playmate just to keep her entertained..
Please do not apply for Aura unless you are ready and willing to do what she requires.. Below is the bio that her foster mom sent..
“Hi!  My name is Aura. I am an 8 month old puppy and still learning all there is to know about the world.  I can get a little nervous in new situations and start to bark if I am afraid, but my foster mom has been helping me to get over some of my fears and build my confidence. I know basic commands like sit, down, shake (paw), and stay. I try REALLY hard to wait for my food at meal time, but I just love it sooo much that I still have a hard time staying. I enjoy games of tug o war, Kongs filled with peanut butter and treats and snuggles.  I really love playing with my Aussie foster sister.  I have been learning to walk on a leash but there is just so much to look at when we are out that I want to go see it all!”
Aura is estimated to be about 8 months old and she is still very much a puppy.  She can come across as very timid when you first meet her but when she opens up to you, she has a big personality and is so full of love.  She bonded with her foster family very quickly and has really started to come out of her shell.  She is housebroken and crate trained..
Aura loves her crate and will just go in it on her own to take naps.  She has been learning to stop the puppy mouthing behavior and appropriate chewing. She will still pick up a sock or a shoe for example and loves to rip the stuffing out of toys (or a dog bed) if she doesn’t have an appropriate chew toy on hand.  She is a high energy, busy girl. She is also very smart and will test the rules and boundaries.  She loves dog treat puzzles, kong toys, playing fetch and other dogs. She is a fast runner and loves to play chase with other dogs in the backyard as well.
She has been doing really well with training at home and will really benefit from an obedience class, supervision and strong boundaries. For example, she is still working on not jumping on people and keeping her paws on the ground.  Her foster mom has been working hard to get her to walk better on leash but she still has a ways to go. Aura gets distracted easily and does not like to be at the back of the pack.  She is timid in new situations and although she has improved a lot, she will bark if she is afraid.  Her foster home has been working to socialize her and introduce her to new situations but she will need her forever mom or dad to continue working with her as she matures into an adult.
If interested please go to our website and read about Adoption.. submit an application.. Or if you already have one, Contact Us.. on the website..
