ADOPTED
Asher, STAR #1882
Asher came to STAR from a cruelty/hoarding situation. We don’t really have any details, that’s all the information STAR was given.
He’s about three years old and arrived at STAR heartworm positive. He has since been neutered, updated on his vaccinations, chipped and had heartworm treatment. As of March 1, he’s still on crate rest, post heartworm treatment – and will get “out of jail” in the next week or so. He’s handed it all fine and recovering well with no complications.
From his foster mom:
Asher is fairly small at around 40 pounds and very quiet. I have not even heard him bark in the time he’s been with STAR, but I’m sure he knows how. He must have spent a lot of time crated as that is where he feels safe and he stays in his crate most of the time, voluntarily. He does like toys and will do his best to shake the stuffing out of them.Â
He gets along great with his multiple fur roommates. He is shy with people but is not afraid of them and will come to you when he’s outside. He will venture outside his crate for short periods of time now and is getting more relaxed and starting to get a handle on being able to roam about. He is a sweet soul that is just learning about life and taking it slowly.
I have not seen any signs of aggression or resource guarding. He is nervous on a leash and likes to take his time deciding on whether he’s going to cooperate or resist.” Â
Asher is looking for a kind, understanding and patient forever home. He is not tested with cats or kids, but his personality indicates he’d be wary of both, at least initially.
If you’d like to learn more about sweet Asher, you must fill out an adoption application as a first step [link under “adopt”] on our website. Asher’s foster home is in Katy, TX.
Asher is the second of the dogs that we took from the Abilene cruelty/hoarding case. He is approx. 4 years old and 40 lbs. Black tri male. Asher is already settling into his foster home in Katy where he will be evaluated and vetted.
UPDATE: Asher has heartworms and will be treated. His adoption date will be somewhere around the middle of March.
