Darcy, STAR # 1499

ADOPTED

Darcy, STAR # 1499

Our cheerful grasshopper from Mississippi has been adopted by Alan and Bonnie who happen to have a grasshopper of their own.. Ripley and Darcy are going to have a wonderful time.. Thanks to our amazing volunteer transport team of Elaine, Michael and Michelle, Deb, Jay and Carey.. Special thanks to Carey and Dennis for taking Darcy into their home..
Darcy is another red dog that has come to STAR from Mississippi.. She was in pretty bad shape with mange and the shelter shaved the back of her .. ugh.. But now she is healthy and sooooo happy. Fully vetted and microchipped.. She is 40 lbs. of one year old fun.. I have heard her foster mom say she has FOMO, the attention span of a gnat and no sense of personal space.. I have also heard her say this is a “once in a lifetime dog”…
Below is the bio that was written for Darcy..
“HI I’M (boing boing) Darcy! (boing boing)
My foster mom said (boing boing) she’s not sure if I know (boing boing) how
to walk (boing boing) a straight line without jumping. (boing boing)
She laughs at me while she calls me “Little Jumpin’ Bean.”  I hear her
laughing a lot at me though. I try really hard to keep her entertained – and
myself too! I love toys of all kinds (although I most like the ones that
make noises. I really like squeaky balls and a latex piggy that belongs to
my foster brother. I’ll throw it around and pounce on it
and throw it again. I do this with other toys too, but piggy is one of my
favorites!
When I first got to my foster home, I couldn’t sit still and foster mom was
getting exasperated in trying to teach me things. It took me a little bit to
figure out what she wanted at first, but she sure had my attention with all
the yummy treats! I am extra careful when I take them too, because I want to
be sure she keeps giving them to me. Now I stare at her all the time, in
case she wants to give me more treats!
I’ve been a good girl inside. I ring the bell with my foster siblings I go right to my crate at night and I don’t make a peep all
night. If I’m crated during the day, I am a little bit noisy, because when
the sun is out I’d rather be out, running and playing! I like other dogs a
lot, but I may be a bit much for older dogs or people with mobility issues.
Like a typical Aussie, I have a lot of energy and am super smart. I’m
learning to play fetch and just started figuring out frisbees. I need some
work on leash, mostly because I just want to GO (foster mom is SO SLOW).
Foster mom brings treats along which definitely gets my attention for a few
seconds but then BIRDS or SQUIRRELS appear and I’m back to pulling! I bet
I’d be a lot of fun running trails or going to the beach or swimming in the
lake or doing agility or flyball or something where I get to spend as much

time with my person as I can.  :)”

If you are interested in meeting Darcy, please fill out an application on our website or if you already have one, simply Contact Us.. Her foster home is in Austin..
