Hi!  My name is Sagan, and I am 15-months old and a 60-pound bundle of love and wiggles. I started life to be a service dog with an older couple, but I never finished my training because of an illness in the family.

I didn’t have any dog siblings, but I did have cat siblings that like to torment me. I was an only dog – and did not get much socialization with others.

Since I have been in my foster home, I have had more freedoms, and I am allowed to be a dog. I love to play, de-stuff toys, and I love to chase balls and play keep away with my one foster dog brother. My foster dad will tell me to leave it, so I leave it in my mouth and run around some more. Speaking of my foster dad, I LOVE him. I follow him everywhere and I love to sit in his lap when he sits down in his recliner.

I sleep in my crate at night with no whining or barking. My foster mom says I have to sleep in the crate at night because I like to wander around a lot. But other than nights, I don’t have to be in the crate anymore. I know my basic commands, sit, down, stay, leave in and come. I do need more on leash walking.

I also am very skittish when meeting new people because I wasn’t socialized as a puppy and new people can sometimes be scary for me. Mostly large groups of people. I love children. I got to hang out my foster parent’s grandkids and we had a fun time. I love to go in walks, but I am not crazy about going for rides in the car. I get a little anxious in the car.

If you think you would like for me to come and live with you and be your companion, just fill out and application and all these nice people that volunteer with STAR will make it happen.

From foster mom:  “Sagan is just a big love bug and a very good boy. He does need some work, but he learns quickly. He would prefer another dog to play with as he loves to run and chase his fur buddy Aussies when they are outside – but he could also do well in a home by himself as long as there’s activity.  He is going to make someone a great companion or be a wonderful addition to a patient, dog-savvy family who will give him space and time to acclimate to new surroundings and new people.
