Rian, STAR # 1782
Rian captured the hearts of the Lewis family while taking up residence in their home as a foster – and they decided he just could not leave. They love him and will continue the work to help him with training and good canine citizenship. Mr. Handsome Blue Eyes is a lucky boy and thank you Kerri and family for loving him!
Rian weighs approx. 45 lbs. and around 2 years old. He’s extremely intelligent and learns very fast. He knows lots of good manners including sit, come, stay, and how to walk on a leash. House trained and crate trained.
Very much a “Velcro” Aussie that loves to be with his person. His “sit” is superb and he usually plops down, throws his right leg out and throws his head back staring at you with those beautiful blue eyes. He loves a dog bed but prefers sitting on the couch cuddled with foster mom.
He gets along well with his foster brother and his bossy foster sister. He tends to be dominant with submissive dogs so he would do best in a home as an only dog or with a strong female. He tries to be very dominant over other male dogs.
He’s a work in progress on self-confidence and gets “nippy” when excited. Because of this, he’d do best in a home without young children.
As with all rescue dogs, his future family will need to be patient and understand that it may take him a little longer to decompress after changing his environment, but routine and positive reinforcement is the key for him for best behavior.
More about Rian:
He has some anxiety in the car and will need his thunder shirt and to be crated when in the car.
He does well at the door with his foster mom but can get super excited and over-zealous with newcomers.
Rian needs an Aussie-savvy owner who will work with him on continuing his good behavior and show him love, kindness, positive-training and a routine. If you are interested in Rian, please complete an application – under “Adopt”.
Rian is a red tri male with two blue eyes.. He weighs approx. 45 lbs. and is 21 mos. old.. Rian will be fostered, vetted and evaluated in Houston. He should be available for adoption around the end of October.
