Mia Red, STAR #1890

Sweet Mia Red went from a shelter in LA, to STAR, a loving family who are ready for all the adventures that two active Aussies bring.  Mia Red (left) joins Disco (R) and fun-loving family including two human buddies! Agility may be in Mia’s future too, as that’s an interest of mom.  We see lots of adventure including of walks, outdoor play time, swimming, and bitey face with buddy Disco.  Thank you, Lisa for rescuing Mia from the shelter and to Terry and Zee for fostering and giving her all the TLC until we could find her the perfect home.

Hi, my name is Mia!  I am a petite, 18-month-old, red tri female who weighs approx.38 lbs. and being an Aussie, I have an endless supply of energy & playing is my game. I was surrendered to a shelter for being “too much” and chewing up things when left out in the yard. Of course, my happiest day of all was when I got adopted by STAR.

Last week was the second happiest day of my life because I completed my 30 day “no playtime” treatment for heartworms – and I’m ready to cut loose!  I am a true diva when it comes to dog toys… I just can’t have too many; that way I can have multiple toys in every room and outside, so I don’t have to go looking for just the right one to rip up and destroy because that what I do best; I just love chewing off all the legs, arms and heads. If you are considering adopting me, I’ll gladly supply you with a list of my favorite toys to get.

I love all the humans (both big & small) and dogs that I’ve met so far, even when they come into my territory… My foster brother Dakota would describe me as a bratty little sister who is always annoying or begging to play by standing or laying on me. I just love laying on people, their feet, legs lap or even your head if you’ll let me..  I just need to be connected to you, so you’ll be paying attention to me, isn’t that what divas do?

I eat my meals and sleep in my crate overnight without any problems but the rest of the time I want to be with my pack. I am house trained, haven’t chewed on anything I shouldn’t and I’m working on walking on the leash without too much pulling, especially if I’m by myself.

I load up and ride in the car because I want to know whatever is going on. I’m a typical Aussie watchdog — always on the lookout for squirrels, mailpersons or just plain leaves falling.  I will protect you from all these dangers!

I would definitely benefit from being adopted by someone with another active dog, so I have another toy and playmate.  Cats not recommended based on her play level and prey drive.

If you are interested in learning more about Mia and potentially adopt – then the first step is to complete our adoption application – on our website, under adopt.  My foster home is in Houston.
