Lone Ranger, STAR #1944
The Prestons’ have adopted Lone Ranger! This happy STAR dog gets a couple of fur-buddy brothers who are excited to welcome him to his new home. Thank you, Geneta for a great foster job and Tim for the home visit.
Lone Ranger is a handsome blue Merle male estimated to be 1 1/2 years old weighing 35 pounds. He was a stray and hanging around a church parking lot when he was saved by a good Samaritan and became a S.T.A.R dog. From his foster home:
“Ranger has done very well with all the Aussies living with me. He has learned a lot from watching and following their lead. He has learned to play with toys and hoards them, hiding them under his mattress. He entertains himself by throwing them and fetching them himself.
Although initially very fearful he has gained a lot of confidence and willingly greets guest at the door. He hangs back a little but warms up quickly and then wants all the attention. He has learned to walk very well on the leash. I prefer a martingale collar. He listens to what is being said when he is overly excited about something he sees. He has also learned “Sit” ” Down” and working on “stay” (not too good yet.) He is very treat motivated. He willingly goes int the crate when I say “crate”. He is crated at night and in the car. Although he would prefer to be with his person. He is very quiet in the crate.
Ranger can’t get enough attention, if he sees someone getting all the pets, he runs to get his share. He plays well with all the dogs being respectful when they say enough. He will counter surf for food, but he is not destructive. He has house trained well but still needs to develop his own signal to go out as he depends on the other dogs’ outings, so I have made sure we are not too long between outings. Ranger is still jumpy with sudden moves or loud voices. This will get better with more one on one attention.
Overall, Ranger is a delight to be around. He will be perfectly happy as an only dog or with another dog family. He will probably be better with older children because of the noise and sudden quick movements. At any rate he wants his own human, and once he figures out who that is he will become the perfect Velcro dog. He follows me every step I take. His favorite nap spot is on the foot of my recliner.”
To learn more about Ranger, you must start by filling out an adoption application (on our website, under Adopt) and we’ll reach out to you.
Ranger was found all alone in a church parking lot in Conroe by a Good Samaritan.. He is a blue merle male, approx. 1 year old and 35 lbs. If this is your dog, please be prepared to show us current vet records and photos as well as reimbursing STAR for our expenses.. In the mean time, he will be vetted and evaluated by his foster home in Tomball.. If not reunited, he will be available for adoption around the middle of November. Meet/Greet Pending!
