Lady Ann, STAR #1901

ADOPTED

Lady Ann, STAR #1901

Lady Ann caught the eye of Trent and Christina and the meet/greet sealed the deal! Lady Ann will get to spend her years with this kind, retired couple who will entertain her with lots of walks in the Texas hill country and hanging out at community gatherings.  Welcome to the STAR family.  Thank you, Bill and Elaine for fostering this lovely girl and to John for bringing her to STAR from Abilene.

Lady Ann is a gorgeous mahogany red-bi female, 5 years old and 50 lbs. From her foster dad:

“She is a sweetheart who is very focused on her person. When she sees you – wiggle butt; when you talk to her – wiggle butt; get her harness out for a walk – turbo wiggle butt!  If she gets too excited, she may jump up.  As a Velcro Aussie, she’ll follow you around, and lie down in your general area if you sit down. She gives kisses and likes belly rubs.

She doesn’t show a preference for men or women, and while she bonds to her person, she bonds to her family as well.  She didn’t show much interest in 5- and 9-year-old dog-savvy children visitors.  Lady Ann can sometimes be kind of goofy looking, with the right ear sometimes more upright than the left ear.

Lady Ann knows her name well and sit, inside, outside, and (sometimes) wait commands. She will chase squirrels in the back yard but ignores them when out walking. Lady Ann has been a single dog for 5 years, so dog pack dynamics are new to her.  She gets along famously with our smaller female mini-Aussie but hasn’t figured out how to play with our same-sized female Aussie mix, although they do run around the yard and walk well together. She’s done well on a couple of trips to our local dog park. She doesn’t play with dog toys, although she just started chasing and getting a tennis ball outside.

She LOVES to go for walks and enjoys the smells.  She initially pulls on the leash but settles down after a while. If she gets too focused on smelling something, expect a light leash pull and her name and she’ll move along.

We’re told that she is sensitive to fireworks and thunder, however we haven’t had an opportunity to observe that. We have not tested her with cats.

Lady Ann is fully vaccinated, spayed, on heartworm preventative, is housebroken, and could stand to lose 5 lbs.  Since she is so attached to her person/family, the ideal home would be one where her person/family are around more times than not.

If you are interested in learning more about Lady Ann and potentially adopt, the first step is to complete our adoption application – on our website, under adopt (click “apply for adoption” at the bottom of the page). Her foster home is in Georgetown.
