Moose, STAR #2042

Lucky Moose has been adopted by Alum family, the Dubois. They first adopted from STAR back in 2012 and we were so happy to hear from them when they decided to adopt again (Deacon, STAR #1944 class ‘2012). Moose gets two young buddies to play with and joins their daily routine of walking to school and may even become a running buddy for mom and dad. So happy that he’s joined this active family who will give him a great life. Thank you, Brittnee for fostering!

Moose is a striking 16-week-old, 23-pound red-tri–Australian Shepherd with two beautiful green eyes. He embodies the classic “man’s best friend” temperament. He is young, energetic, intelligent, and ready to form a strong bond with his forever family.

Moose would be an ideal fit for an Aussie-savvy home, preferably with another playful canine companion. He currently lives with two foster Aussie brothers (ages 3 and 5) and happily spends hours wrestling, sharing toys, and racing around the yard. He takes small corrections from his foster brothers well and adapts to their play style easily. He thrives on companionship and will flourish in a home that matches his activity level.

When it comes to personality, Moose is the perfect blend of affectionate and fun-loving. He melts hearts with his handsome looks, sweet nature, and eagerness to cuddle. His leash manners are excellent, and he remains calm and friendly around other dogs, people, and even cats or squirrels. Whether accompanying you to Home Depot, brunch, or any dog-friendly outing, Moose is polite and easygoing in public. At home, he is animated and playful yet settles beautifully when the day winds down. He loves curling up close to his human or a furry sibling for naps or nighttime sleep.

Moose is nearly fully potty trained and communicates his needs by sitting at the back door. He currently prefers to potty only in the backyard rather than during walks, which may evolve as he matures. He enjoys all types of toys and loves a good game of fetch. Since he is a dedicated chewer, durable toys will help keep fluff-related cleanup to a minimum.

Mealtime is one of his favorite parts of the day. Moose is highly food motivated and happily eats breakfast and dinner without hesitation. He enjoys healthy treats like apples, carrots, blueberries, and bananas. He does have a chicken allergy, but a switch to appropriate food has greatly reduced his itchiness. Supportive items such as salmon oil may help continue that improvement.

Moose is still learning to feel comfortable when left alone and can experience separation anxiety. His foster family is actively working on crate training and confidence-building while he is still young and adaptable.

He greets every morning with excitement, always ready to start the day with his people. Moose is an exceptional puppy who will grow into a well-mannered and deeply loyal companion with continued guidance, structure, and love.

Moose is almost fully vaccinated and will be adopted with a neuter contract to be completed once he reaches the proper age. This wonderful boy is ready to bring joy, adventure and endless affection to his foster home.

Moose is a 18-week old red tri male that came to us as an owner release. This sweet boy is being fostered in the Austin area and needs full vetting. He may be available in late-October.
