AVAILABLE DOG.. Cooper Black, STAR # 1501..

Cooper is a young dog found dumped up near Huntsville, Tx.. He’s about a year old and weighs just 40 lbs. He is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped.. and has good house manners.. Here the bio his foster mom sent about Cooper..

“Hey there – my name is Cooper and my foster mom likes to call me “Cooper the Trooper” as I get along with what ever is being done to me (cone of shame after neuter, bath, brushing, taking pills, getting hugs from my human family, wrestling with my fur family etc). – hey, I’m just an easy going dude for having been found out wandering and being malnourished. I have a sweet temper and am a puppy at heart (and on paper!). My coat is soft and is coming in nicely since I started to eat better and get lots of love.

I do walk with a funny gate some of the time – limping a bit on my right front leg. The x-rays and vet says my bones/tendons in the right front leg elbow just didn’t form right – either it’s a genetic thing or maybe an old injury. There’s no surgical fix and most of the time, it does not bother me and it certainly doesn’t keep me from snuggling, wrestling or running with a case of the “zoomies” in the back yard. I get a little pain relief/inflammatory pill when needed and that’s ok with me (believe it or not, I’ll eat a pill in anything – always up for a treat). I won’t be a good running buddy, and probably can’t tolerate long hikes, but there’s so much of me to love who cares about running or hiking anyway?

I have goofy large ears and I like to talk before treats or when I’m being put in my kennel – which I’m not fond of, but I’ll go in with a treat-trick. Did I mention I Iike treats? I show you love by putting my head on your lap and I can be a bit mouthy, nibbling on fingers, toes or elbows. My foster mom looked it up online and “Mouthing,” a.k.a. “play-biting” is a natural, instinctive way I like to play. It’s just exploring and has always been gentle. I’m not a barker unless joining in with other dogs.

The very minor vices my foster family is working with me on is my shyness and learning to walk on a leash – but with the right home and a gentle touch, I’m sure I’ll get settled fast and learn quick. Oh, and while I like the cat and it’s fun to chase her, she is not wild about me and I’m trying to remember that too. Ok – one more, I like to chase the tennis ball, but I have not figured out how to give it back yet.

I’d do best in a home with another playmate to help get my energy out. I’d be fine round cats and young kids as long as they are gentle with me. I look forward to meeting you!”

Cooper’s foster home is in Austin.. If you are interested in meeting him, please fill out an application on our website or Contact Us is you already have one..
