Chip, STAR #1794
From being found abandoned in Louisiana to STAR and now with the Hamilton family– this is one lucky puppy and happy family. Chip gets a home with lots of room to run and play and a human brother and sister to love on and teach him the ropes. The family lost their Aussie (Boss) and were ready to open their hearts to Chip. Thank you, Stephanie (STAR alumni, Auggie) for referring this family to us. Thanks to Gordon for the home visit and Elaine for finding this boy and transport. Huge thanks to Brandi who quickly stepped up to foster Chip and for giving him so much love, patience, and training that helped him along his way.
Chip is a 2yr old, approximately 40lb black tri male with two stunning blue eyes.. He was found abandoned in Louisiana and once with STAR, got neutered and fully vaccinated. He’s HW- and is happy and healthy. The foster home has been working diligently on training and good manners.
Chip needs an Aussie experienced home that will continue with his training and understand that he is a work in progress. The trainer said he is a smart pup who needs to be kept busy.
He needs consistent routines. He’d do best in a home as an only dog, or with a mature, relaxed fur buddy. If another dog is in the home, interactions would need to be supervised at first, and he loves other dogs and likes to play non-stop! Chip loves all humans would not do well around young children as he loves to chase, jump, herd, and sometimes nip.
Smart, learns new routines and commands quickly

Nervous in the bathtub but tolerates being bathed

Knows command “sit”
Doing really well with “watch me” ,“wait”, and “off”

The key to Chip’s heart is consistency and routine. Love, kindness and consistency are key to helping him be a great canine citizen.
