Chewie, STAR #1865
Lisa has been wanting another Aussie after losing her Aussie, Peyton, and she found her forever buddy with Chewie. You know it’s going to be a good day when the adopter sends a note the morning of a meet/greet to say they are “so excited and couldn’t sleep a wink!” It was love at first sight. Chewie will have a fur buddy with Charlie the Maltese and may even get some training to be a comfort dog at the local hospital. Thank you to the team who brought Chewie to STAR including Mike, Sue, and Terry for transport and Brian for the home visit. Thank you, Jackie, for a great foster job and letting Chewie go.
Chewie came to STAR when his family was no longer able to care for him. He’s a Black Tri Male, just over 7 years old and a total sweetheart. Chewie acts younger than his reported 7.5 years, participating in the usual Aussie antics with his two Aussie roommates. He is typically Velcro with his hoomans and will compete for their attention, politely.
He was a little “barky” at first but has calmed down and settled into the household routine, including the crate for feeding and nighttime. Despite the name, he has not chewed on anything, but will counter surf if food is visible.
He walks well on a leash, is housebroken and is good about going to the door when wanting to go outside. He LOVES riding in the car. He has gotten a bit excited by neighborhood squirrels and some of the neighborhood dogs some of the time.
He is fully up to date with the vet, weighs 58 pounds, and is currently on Sentinel to remain Heartworm negative. He does get along with his canine siblings—including a bossy sister and sometimes jealous brother. The previous owner claimed he did well with cats and children, but that is not verified at this time.
If you’d like to apply to learn more about and possibly adopt Chewie, please complete an application. His foster home is in S. Houston.
Really nice dog whose family no longer had time for him. Seven years old and 55 lbs. of Black tri male with the cutest freckles on his legs. He is fully vetted and will be evaluated by his foster home in Boling, Tx. just south of Houston. Chewie should be available for adoption near the end of November.
First Update:
Chewie has had a good week and is a good boy. He is a barker and a counter surfer. Can’t leave food unattended with him around. He loves attention but isn’t obnoxious about it. So far seems to be medium energy. He is calm in the house. He hasn’t chased a ball yet, even though the owner said he was obsessed with the ball. He and other dogs in the home has started playing together out in the yard. Good on leash and loves to ride in the car.
