Cash, STAR #1956
Cash has had a whirlwind adventure so far in 2025! He went from a shelter in Baton Rouge, then on a plane with Pilots n Paws to Houston, to safety and security with a STAR foster and now off with the Deal family. Thank you, Amy for fostering Cash and to Janis for the home visit.
Cash came to STAR from a shelter in Baton Rouge shelter – and delivered by STAR via flight with Pilots n Paws. He is a Blue Merle Male, estimated to be around 5 years old and weights 40lbs. From his foster mom:
“Cash is a very sweet and affectionate dog and has beautiful markings. In addition to his copper points, he has quite a few spots of the dark red mixed in on his back. He’s very well mannered. He eats in his crate and has slept in there most nights. I have left him out of the crate with no household destruction when I returned. He sticks to me like glue (expected) and occasionally he has a problem with my Aussie when he’s getting attention. No big issues though and they play spirited games of bitey-face, zoomies in the backyard, and playing “it’s mine” with toys. Generally, as soon as Cash gets the toy away, he takes the toy into his crate or another room. That rascal.
Cash is doing well on walks, with minimal pulling on the leash. He does get excited when he sees a squirrel or cat, but he just needs work on leaving it. This past week we had experience with thunder and fireworks (yay☹), and he seemed to notice them and was a bit wary, but I wouldn’t say he was too traumatized.
He is allowed to get on the furniture in my house, so if he goes to a home with a no furniture rule, it will need to be reinforced gently, because I do think he gets a bit shut down if he is yelled at. During a couple of the “she’s my mom, get away from her” altercations with Huck this week, I raised my voice, which resulted in him retreating into his crate and resistant to come out.
Cash has been fully vetted, is neutered and HW-. His foster home in in Willis. If you’d like to learn more about Cash, you must first fill out an adoption application available on our website under Adopt.
Cash is a very lucky boy.. Found at the Baton Rouge shelter, he was able to book a flight with Pilots n Paws and arrived at Hooks airport on Friday.. He is a 4-5 year old Blue Merle male weighing approx. 40 lbs. Totally vetted, he will spend some time for evaluation in his foster home in Willis and should be available for adoption after the first of 2025.
