Brazos, STAR # 1826

ADOPTED

Brazos, STAR # 1826

Brazos #1826… BTM: 8 months and 50lbs. Handsome young Brazos is now a proud member of the McLain family. His new best buddies include a human brother (Skye) and female Aussie, Honey. They spent their time looking for the right dog to add to their family and we are happy to welcome them to our STAR family. Thank you, Christina for finding this boy and fostering him while we looked for his perfect home.
Meet Brazos, the adorable 8-month-old Australian Shepherd with a heart full of sweetness and
a playful spirit that’s simply irresistible. Brazos is the epitome of cuteness and charm, and his
personality will melt your heart.
One of Brazos’ most endearing qualities is his love of cuddles. He thrives on affection and will
happily curl up in your lap for hours of snuggles. Brazos is a loyal companion who will follow you
from room to room, always wanting to be by your side. Whether you’re watching TV, cooking in
the kitchen, or just relaxing, Brazos will be there, bringing joy and warmth to your day.
Despite his young age, Brazos is already a smart pup who has mastered basic commands like
“sit”, “come” and “no.” Currently, Brazos is working on learning not to mouth people. He was a
strictly outside dog in his former home, but he has done a great job learning house manners.
He is housebroken and has earned the run of his foster home. He has made a remarkable
amount of progress in a short period of time. He’s eager to please and quick to learn. Brazos is
determined to make his people happy and is looking for a patient, loving family to guide him.
Brazos is a social butterfly. He gets along famously with both dogs and people. He loves to play
with other dogs and would do really well in a home with an active doggie brother or sister.
There are no cats at his current home.
While Brazos is an adventurous and spirited pup, he does experience some nervousness during
car rides, which occasionally leads to accidents. With positive experiences (treats for just sitting
in the car while it is off) he is gaining confidence. Given a choice between getting in the car or
being left behind, his foster mom thinks he’s going to decide on the car before too much longer!
He is up to date on all of his shots, heartworm medication and flea medication. Brazos weighed
51 lbs at his last vet appointment. He’s currently on the road to recovery from a skin irritation
that the vet suspects may have originated as a reaction to his microchip injection that he was
scratching. He’ll be using an antibacterial spray for one more week. Although the treatment
was uncomfortable for him, this sweet boy never growled or showed any aggression.
When visiting the vet’s office he strained against the leash to try to meet the other animals and
people. He would thrive in a puppy obedience class where he would have the chance to
socialize and practice his leash skills

One of Brazos’ favorite activities is being brushed. He loves sitting in front of you and looking
into your eyes as his coat is brushed. Grooming sessions are a special bonding time with
Brazos.
Brazos isn’t just a pretty face; he’s an active and energetic pup that will keep you on your toes.
When it comes to mental stimulation, Brazos is a fan of dog puzzles. These brain-teasing toys
keep his mind sharp and have been a great way to feed all the dogs in his foster family at the
same time without any resource guarding. Brazos has been known to block the bowl with his
body otherwise. He was hungry when he arrived at his foster home, but he has become less
inclined to eat as quickly and eat as much as possible in the time that he has been there. His
foster mom has even been able to take treats and bully sticks out of his mouth without any
issues.
Brazos has a natural instinct to chew, so having plenty of toys for him to sink his teeth into is a
must. His favorites are Kong rope toys, which he’ll joyfully chase and tug with endless
enthusiasm. He also enjoys any type of chewing toy. He has a unique twist on fetch. He loves
running around holding his toys, throwing them up in the air and trying to catch them. He will
have you laughing with his version!
At the end of the day Brazos is an aspiring bed hog who dreams of snuggling up beside you
every night. His foster mom has woken up more than once with Brazos on the bed and his head
on her shoulder. He longs to be your cuddly sleep companion.
Brazos is a sweet and playful bundle of joy that will undoubtedly bring happiness and love into
your life. If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate, and fun-loving companion, Brazos is the
perfect match. You don’t want to miss out on the opportunity to welcome this little charmer into
your heart and home. His foster mom says, “someone is going to get an amazing dog…
His foster home is in Navasota.. If you would like to meet Brazos, please go to our website, read about Adoption and submit an application..

Brazos is a black tri male puppy.. 7 mos. old and 46 lbs.  Brazos is fully vaccinated and will be adopted out with a spay/neuter contract.. He will be evaluated by his foster home in Navasota.. and should be available for adoption the early part of June.
