Axel, STAR # 1887

ADOPTED

Axel, STAR # 1887

Axel is heading home with Nancy to be an only dog (for now anyway!) Nancy adopted from STAR before (Marley, STAR #858 ’11) who passed recently. Thank you, Kristin for a wonderful foster job to get Axel vetted and ready for adoption and to Terry for transport and Joann for the home visit. We look forward to seeing Axel’s adventures!

Axel—a gorgeous, 8-year-old red merle—is a sweet, gentle boy who thinks that he is a lapdog. He also likes to rest his chin on pillows and can squeeze his 54 pounds into any portion of a comfortable couch.

He plays very well with the Aussie in his foster home, likes to fetch a frisbee, and is learning to walk with a “gentle lead.” He is not aggressive with other dogs and is very food-motivated which will make further training easy.

He does like to look in the fridge and can swipe food off of a counter.  He spins on command!

We have no information on socializing with cats, but his first home exposed him to children and kennels. He is healthy, neutered, crate-trained, house-trained (no chewing, scratching, etc.).  He’s a lovely dog that’s ready to find his furever home.

Axel is being fostered in Austin, TX.

If you are interested in learning more about Axel, please complete the adoption application under “adopt” on our website as a required first step.

Axel’s owner traveled so much and he was left in boarding.. STAR will find him a stay at home family.. This very sweet boy is a red merle, 54 lbs. and 8 years old.. Axel will be vetted and evaluated in Austin.. He should be available for adoption around the first of March.
