Tobey, STAR # 1772

Tobey has found his forever home with the Caprari family and their Aussie, Birdie. They are so lucky to have this sweet gentle boy join them, and Birdie gets a brother! Many, many thanks to first time foster Freddie for picking up Tobey, evaluating and vetting him and letting him go!  Thanks, Polly for the home visit.

Tobey was found in an abandoned apartment by a good Samaritan and surrendered to STAR. He is a handsome, strong, energetic, 2-year-old boy who is full of love. Tobey does not have a mean bone in his body. In fact, he believes that he is a lap dog and gives the best hugs. Hugs in that both feet around your neck and squeezes you tight giving the ever so sweet accompanying kiss.  He loves everyone he meets, and he loves kids – but he forgets just how big (48#’s) and strong (Hercules) he is – so, he can unintentionally knock people over.

He loves to run, jump and play. Tobey needs lots of bone to chew on, or he thinks anything on the floor is unwanted and his. However, he is learning what is his and what is not. He is an acrobat when he jumps. All four feet come off the ground and he gets a high vertical. He is more of a hurdler than a sprinter but only, as long as he has his eye on you. He does Not like to be left alone outside at all. Outside is for family play and bathroom business. Not living alone!

“Tobey is just the sweetest dog I have ever met” – says foster mom.  “He needs to just tone it down a bit!”

A few facts about Tobey:

  • Tobey is not food aggressive. He will give you anything he has.
  • He is neutered.
  • Housebroken – but does go out frequently.
  • Great with sturdy kids.
  • Good with dogs, both old and little.
  • The rumor was that he is good with cats (no cats in his foster home).
  • Not perfect on a leash, just needs to be taught what you want of him.
  • Good in his crate.
  • Good with a bath.
  • A light shedder for an Aussie.
  • And deserves to be loved for the rest of his life.

If you are interested in Tobey, please complete an application on our website under “Adopt”.
