Ryker Red, STAR #1765
Ryker Red has happily joined the Cox family. Amber saw Ryker’s picture and it was love at first sight – as he reminded her so much of their dog Tobie (Aussie mix that recently passed). Ryker will have a couple young human friends and a fur buddy [Blue] to play with too – and lots of toys. Thank you, Sean and Kristin for giving this good boy a wonderful foster home while we looked for his family.
Ryker was returned to STAR for not getting along with the established alpha male German shepherd in the household. He is around 1.5 years old and 48lbs of fun. Since being back with STAR, he gets along fine with the alpha female and beta male dogs at his foster home.
Ryker believes puppyhood is for life! He’s very jovial and loves to throw his stuffed animals around the house.
LOVES TO EAT! Good in crate, Great car rider, and loves to go on walks. Leash training is still in progress and continues to ‘walk’ us.
He has a fondness for sitting and staring out the front window in hopes of seeing ‘his friend’ – another Aussie that walks by.
Pros:
- Hunter of all things “stuffed”
- House Trained
- Eats meals in crate (door open or closed).
- Crate trained
- Great car rider
- Gets along with other dogs (would do best with bossy female)
- Gives you “space” – He isn’t exactly Velcro, but when he does find his fur-ever home, he will bond very hard
Cons:
- Counter surfer – opportunist – any food at head level automagically becomes his.
- Door dasher when visitors come by
- Resource guarder – toys, humans, house
Because Ryker loves to be in charge, he needs to be an only dog, or with a bossy female. We do not think he’d tolerate cats.
If you are interested in meeting Ryker, please go to our website, read about Adoption and submit an application. His foster home is in N. W. Houston.
Ryker was described as “the sweetest Aussie I’ve ever met” by his foster home and now he gets to live with STAR alumni family the Cotters (most recently Sadie Blue #1754). So many adventures and TLC are in his future. This boy came to us all the way from Louisiana, and we are thankful to Elaine for finding him and the transport. And thank you so very much to Sean for fostering this boy.
This beautiful 18 mo. old big boy is Ryker.. He is 60 lbs. of fun.. STAR was asked to help find him a new home because a family medical problem.. Ryker will be vetted and evaluated in N. W. Houston.. He should be available for adoption around the first week of September.
