Tucker, STAR #2116

Tucker captured the hearts of his foster family and so he’s home for good. This is such great news for this very good boy who came to us from a breeding situation and went from a life of living outdoors to a comfy couch, soft bed, and toys galore. He loves being part of a pack and has integrated beautifully into his new home. We love a foster fail – so thank you Vines family for all you did to help Tucker get settled and then give him a forever home.

🐾 Tucker: Your New Adventure Buddy, Blanket Burrower, and Loyal Shadow 🐾

Looking for a dog who will make you smile every single day? Meet Tucker, a handsome 4-year-old black tri–Australian Shepherd with a wiggly rump, a heart of gold, and 58 pounds of pure devotion.

Tucker came to rescue from a breeding situation along with several other dogs. Having spent most of his life outdoors surrounded by his canine friends, the world of couches, cozy beds, and family life was entirely new to him. The good news? Tucker has embraced indoor living like a pro! He settled into home life quickly, has excellent house manners, and is fully housebroken.

One of Tucker’s favorite things in the world is companionship. He loves being part of a pack and has integrated beautifully with his foster family’s dogs. Whether he’s zooming around the yard, hanging out with his furry friends, or quietly keeping an eye on his people, Tucker is happiest when he’s surrounded by those he loves. Because of this, he’d thrive in a home with another friendly dog to keep him company.

This boy is equal parts playful and sweet. Toss a tennis ball, and he’ll happily chase it down, though he’s currently more of a “catch and drop” expert than a retriever. He’s also discovered that blankets are endlessly entertaining. Try making a bed around him and watch the fun begin as he bounces, burrows, and wiggles his way into the pile like a puppy.

Tucker is also convinced that his people should never have to travel through the house alone. Whether you’re heading to the kitchen, the backyard, or taking a midnight stroll to the bathroom, expect Tucker to be right there beside you, hoping for a few extra pets along the way.

He’s friendly with everyone he meets and greets new friends with his signature happy wiggle. Tucker is curious about water and has already started exploring the pool steps. We have a feeling that once he realizes swimming means spending more time with his people, he’ll be ready for river trips, lake days, and backyard pool adventures.

Car rides are still a work in progress, but considering his recent travels involved leaving the only home he’d ever known, vet visits, and getting neutered, we think he deserves a little grace. The good news? No car sickness, and he’s getting more comfortable every time.

Tucker has spent his life learning how to be a dog. Now he’s ready to learn what it means to be someone’s best friend.

Tucker’s Highlights:
🐾 4 years old, 58 pounds
🐾 Housebroken with great indoor manners
🐾 Loves other dogs and would thrive with a canine companion
🐾 Friendly, affectionate, and people-oriented
🐾 Tennis ball enthusiast and blanket-burrowing expert
🐾 Curious about swimming and outdoor adventures
🐾 Ready to trade his past life for a lifetime of love and belonging ❤️

Tucker is neutered, fully vaccinated, tested negative for HW, is on preventative. If you’d like to learn more, the first step is to complete an adoption application at the link below.
If you already have an application on file with us, you can contact us to let us know you are interested.
IMPORTANT: We do not deliver dogs to adopters – you must be able and willing to come meet the dog in their foster home. A home visit by one of our STAR volunteers is a required part of our adoption program and thus, adoptions outside of Texas are rare because of these two requirements. You must have a secure fence in place, and we are not fans of apartments for this breed, nor homes where the dogs will be home alone 8+ hours daily. All STAR dogs are adopted to be inside pets and family members only and all current or past pets in the home must have proof of being kept up to date on vaccinations and Heartworm prevention. The adoption fee is $300 and trust us, we spend that or much more on dogs to get them vetted – all STAR dogs will be neutered/spayed, up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, heartworm negative, and on monthly heartworm prevention.

Tucker is a stunning 4-year-old black tri and weighs 60 pounds. He came in with five other dogs from a breeding situation. His world has changed overnight. We are determined to make sure his next chapter is filled with love and stability. Tucker is settling into rescue life in his foster home in San Antonio. He will be vetted and neutered and should be ready for adoption in mid to late June. Stay tuned as we share more about each of these deserving dogs in the coming weeks.
