Dottie, STAR #2113
Dottie (r) has been adopted! Alum Randi and husband Sam are happy to welcome her home along with fur brother, Ori (l). Randi adopted from STAR back in 2018 when she found Brianne #1401 and when she was ready to get Ori a buddy, we are so glad she contacted STAR. Thank you, Choe for another great foster job and helping this sweet girl find a forever home.
Every shy dog deserves someone who sees the magic underneath — and Dottie is pure magic!
Dottie is a sweet, playful little girl with a huge personality hiding just beneath her shy exterior. She’s around 1 year old and petite at 35lbs. She came to STAR when her elderly owners were not able to keep up with her energy level.
While she may take a little time warming up to new people, once she feels safe, her goofy and lovable side comes bursting out. From zooming around the yard to tossing toys in the air and showing off her impressive jumping skills, Dottie knows how to keep life fun and entertaining.
This adorable girl likes to take things at her own pace and responds best to patience, kindness, and gentle encouragement. Harsh corrections aren’t her style, but positive reinforcement and love? That’s the way straight to Dottie’s heart! Once she decides you’re “her person,” she forms strong bonds and wants to be close by, soaking up the comfort and security of her trusted humans.
Dottie absolutely loves other dogs and would thrive in a home with a confident older canine companion who can help guide her and build her confidence. She’s respectful of other dogs’ boundaries, looks to them for reassurance, and once she settles in, she truly enjoys making new furry friends.
Like many shy dogs, Dottie is still learning that the world can be a safe and happy place. New people can make her nervous at first, and she may bark briefly when visitors arrive before she relaxes. She’s also continuing to work on potty training, confidence-building, and socialization skills, and she’s making progress every single day.
Despite her timid moments, Dottie is eager to learn, incredibly smart, and blossoms beautifully with consistency, patience, and encouragement. Watching her confidence grow is one of the most rewarding things about this special little dog.
If you’re looking for a loyal, active, and endlessly entertaining companion — and you’re willing to give her the time and understanding she needs to feel secure — Dottie will reward you with affection, laughter, and a bond that is truly special.
This precious girl is ready to find the forever family who will help her continue growing into the confident, happy dog she was always meant to be.
Dottie is a precious 1 year old black tri female and weighs 35lbs. She was released to STAR by her elderly owners for having too much energy. She will get lots of socialization in her new foster home located in Houston. Dottie should be ready for adoption late May.
