Levi, STAR #2077
Levi is an energetic 11-month-old male Aussie. His coloring is unique and he has 2 different colored beautiful eyes. He is a bit on the smaller side around 42 lbs. He will be 1 on April 29th.
He loves to play. If no one will play with him, he will entertain himself. He prefers playing ball in the house more than outside. He has gone to doggy daycare a couple of times and he does very well. He gets along with any dog.
Has not been tested on cats. He LOVES kids and would do well with kids that are dog savvy. He will initially bark at people and then goes up to them and wants them to love on him. He is just a big bundle of love.
He knows all his basic commands. His recall is FANTASTIC. He can be trusted off leash, but we still don’t let him out of the yard without a leash. He walks fairly well on leash and is not too reactive to other dogs. We have a dog next door that is very reactive to our guys, and I can get Levi to ignore him when we go out with him.
He can be a counter surfer if you are silly enough to let something on the counter unattended. He knows to sit at the door before being left out.
Levi might do best in a home with another dog friend or could be an only dog pending there’s a solid plan for exercise and enrichment. While he can be relaxed inside, as a smart, higher energy Aussie, he needs to be challenged and exercised every day.
While Levi has good name recall, and doesn’t show signs of being a flight risk, we still recommend, as a best practice, the use of an Apple Air Tag (or similar) on his collar, minimally for the first couple of months, while he bonds with his new family.
Levi is crate trained, house trained, neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on vaccinations and monthly heartworm prevention. Foster home is in Pearland.

IMPORTANT: We do not deliver dogs to adopters. You must be able and willing to come meet the dog in their foster home. A home visit by one of our STAR volunteers is a required part of our adoption program. Adoptions outside of Texas are rare because of these requirements. You must have a secure fence in place, and we are not fans of apartments for this breed, nor homes where the dogs will be home alone 8+ hours daily. All STAR dogs are adopted to be inside pets and family members only and all current or past pets in the home must have proof of being kept up to date on vaccinations and Heartworm prevention. The adoption fee is $300 and trust us, we spend that or much more on dogs to get them vetted – all STAR dogs will be neutered/spayed, up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, heartworm negative, and on monthly heartworm prevention. Levi is a 10 month old red merle male and weighs 40 pounds. He was spending a lot of alone time outside and in his crate. He is now a STAR dog and we will find him the perfect home. Levi will be fostered and vetted in the Houston area and should be ready for adoption sometime in early March.
