Levi, STAR #2077
Levi has been adopted! He came to STAR from family who did not have time for him and thus he was spending a lot of time alone in the yard or in a crate. He learned so much at his foster home about manners and learning how to hang with a dog pack – and now he gets to go home with the Witcher family where he gets a few teenagers and dog buddies to hang with and continue learning. Levi is such a lucky boy, and our thanks go out to Sue and Steve for fostering and to Jane for the home visit.
Levi is an energetic 11 month old male Aussie. His coloring is unique and he has 2 different colored beautiful eyes. He is a bit on the smaller side around 45 lbs. He will be 1 on April 29th.
He loves to play. If no one will play with him, he will entertain himself. He prefers playing ball in the house more than outside. He has gone to doggy daycare a couple of times and he does very well. He gets along with any dog. Has not been tested on cats. He LOVES kids and would do well with kids that are dog savvy. He will initially bark at people and then goes up to them and wants them to love on him. He is just a big bundle of love.
He knows all his basic commands. His recall is FANTASTIC. He can be trusted off leash, but we still don’t let him out of the yard without a leash. He walks fairly well on leash and is not to reactive to other dogs. We . have a dog next door that is very reactive to our guys and I can get Levi to ignore him when we go out with him. He can be a counter surfer if you are silly enough to let something on the counter unattended. He knows to sit at the door before being left out.
Levi might do best in a home with another dog friend, or could be an only dog. While he can be relaxed inside, as a smart, higher energy Aussie, he needs to be challenged and exercised every day.
While Levi has good name recall, and doesn’t show signs of being a flight risk, we still recommend, as a best practice, the use of an Apple Air Tag (or similar) on his collar, minimally for the first couple of months, while he bonds with his new family.
Levi is crate trained, house trained, neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on vaccinations and monthly heartworm prevention. If you are interested in learning more about him and potentially adopt, the first step is to fill out an adoption application at the link below. His foster home is in Pearland.
Levi is a 10 month old red merle male and weighs 40 pounds. He was spending a lot of alone time outside and in his crate. He is now a STAR dog and we will find him the perfect home. Levi will be fostered and vetted in the Houston area and should be ready for adoption sometime in early March.
