ADOPTED

Major, STAR #2033

STAR Alum family, the Carlsons have adopted Major who will be their 3rd STAR Dog! He follows in the pawsteps of Mattie ’08 and Wrangler #1440 ’18 and we are always grateful when families come back to get another Aussie from us. He’ll get to live in Aggieland and get tons of TLC. From shelter to STAR to home – woohoo! Thank you, Rae and also Sue and Steve for fostering his sweet guy.

Major is a handsome red tri male, around 3 years old and 46lbs. He came to STAR from the Jennings Animal Shelter in Louisiana and was positive for heartworms. We have treated him, and he’s now fully vetted, neutered an microchipped.  Let’s find him a wonderful place to call home – is it yours??

From his foster mom:

Major is a lovely boy.  He comes in a little stand offish as figures out his place, but he figures out quickly how to fit in. He has a sunny personality and not a mean bone in his body.  He LOVES to play, both with other dogs and with toys and can decimate a plush in 30 minutes, and a Kong squeak toy in a day.

Major handles being crated with aplomb and will willingly go in whenever you need him to – for feeding, for naps, or when you need to leave.  He will bark and howl a bit when you first leave as he does have some separation anxiety, but he settles down nicely and has always been calmly laying down when I’ve returned.

He has been well mannered (not destructive) when left loose in the house, too. He’s housebroken and had no accidents. He will need a home with a high fence, especially if he has easy access to it when his people leave as he is a fence climber and will want to follow his people.

He has followed me to the barn multiple times and has looked at the chickens and goats but has shown no interest or focus on any of them, so would be fine in a home with livestock.  He has not been tested with cats, but his attitude speaks that he would be fine with them.

At night, I’ve been letting him sleep on the bed with me and my other Aussie – they get along great. During the day when I’m sitting – I can always find him laying down right by my chair.”

To learn more about Major, please fill out an application on our website, under Adopt. His foster home is in Houston.

Major came to us from the Jennings Animal Shelter in LA. He’s a handsome red tri male, estimated to be around 3 years and is 46lbs. Sadly, he’s positive for heartworms so we’ll get him treated and evaluated in a foster home. He may be available sometime in November.
