Autumn, STAR #1999

Happy to report that sweet Autumn has been adopted by a really wonderful STAR Alumni family. They had a holiday sweater ready for her and a stocking is already on the fireplace. She’ll get to hang with STAR Dog #1741/Koji (was Will) and she’ll follow in the footsteps of Mercy, who was adopted from Second Time Around and also had a malocclusion of the jaw.  Thank you, Lisa for taking in Autumn when she was returned at no fault of her own and fostering until we found the perfect adopters.
Autumn is a stunningly beautiful and petite red tri female – around 38 lbs. and 3.5 years old. She came to STAR when her owners were no longer able to care for her due to their health issues.
Her bio from her foster home:
Autumn is an energetic and smart girl. She always wants to be in on the action and will follow you to ensure she’s not missing out on pets, treats, play or getting some attention. She loves to play ball and catch frisbees – talented and athletic.
Autumn gets along with other dogs in the home. She’s currently in a home with several dogs and they all get along great, play together, and respect each other’s boundaries. Autumn is the smallest of the group, but she’s not afraid to stand up and hold her own.
Autumn is potty trained; crate trained and knows her basic manners. She gets super excited when it’s time for food and walks. She’s food-motivated so it’s easy to teach her new things and she loves to play fetch!
Her leash walking skills need improvement, as she’s reactive to the cars that go by and very interested in other people and dogs – but she’s fun on a walk with lots of sniffing and barking. She rides very well in a car and is an easy-going passenger.
While she’s little, she’s a crafty counter surfer – so if you leave your sandwich in range, you may lose it. She loves to jump up and down when she sees food or when it’s time to go for a walk.
Autumn could thrive in both a home where she’s the spoiled only child, but she is also fine with other dogs to bond with. She can be a little pushy with dogs smaller than her in an effort to see who is alpha, but she’s quick to learn and takes direction very well.
She has not been tested with younger kids, but all indications are that she’d be fine with slow and easy introductions. We’d recommend no cats as she has a strong prey drive and may pester them for a good chase.
NOTE: Autumn has a cute side profile with a minor misalignment of her lower jaw which is shorter than normal. It’s called malocclusion – but does not impact her negatively in any way and the vet says it’ not an issue for her at all. She’s happy, healthy, fully vetted, microchipped and spayed.
If you’d like to know more about Autumn, your first step is to complete an adoption application.

Autumn is a red tri female. 35 lbs. and 3 years old. The elderly owners are having health issues. Autumn will be vetted and evaluated by her foster home in N. W. Houston. She has a short lower jaw which appears to be something called Malocclusion which means misalignment. A malocclusion is classified as the lower jaw being too short in comparison with the upper jaw. https://www.petmd.com/dog/care/dogs-underbites-what-canine-malocclusion – we don’t see that it bothers her, but we’ll get our vet to check it out. She DOES have a cute little side profile. She should be available for adoption near the end of June.
