Renley, STAR #1831
Good vibes all around as STAR Alumni – Mark & Lesley adopted Renley (l) and he gets a new sister Sansa (r). Lesley had her eye on Renley, and it was meant to be. Previous STAR dog: Ruby (STAR #1010, ’13 has passed). As always, we love it when our Alumni come back to give another STAR dog a wonderful home. Thank you, Bill Gregory for fostering!
Renley is a handsome 8-year-old red-tri-Aussie who weighs in at 53lbs. He was entrusted to STAR after his elderly owner could not care for him. He’s a low chill-to-medium energy Aussie that would be a great companionship friend. Renley is a good boy!
Renley knows his name well. He will follow you from room-to-room and plunks down next to you. His wiggle butt is often visible when he sees you or he’s talked to. Sometimes seen carrying a stuffed dog toy around.
He will alert bark at the front door, at voices on the other side of a backyard fence, or sometimes at approaching strangers/dogs while walking. After indicating all is OK, he generally quiets down. While Renley wasn’t keen on being at the Vet, the Vet easily completed his exam. His previous owner said that he is sensitive to thunder and fireworks, so he needs some TLC when storms are rolling in or holidays with fireworks.
Renley gets along with both men and women. After an introduction treat, he was fine with dog savvy children who were visiting, even soliciting a belly rub from the 8-year-old! He did well on a visit to the dog park and travels well in the car.
He could be a single dog or part of a family pack. He’s been a single dog for 8 years, so his foster home, with our two females, presented something new to Renley. The dogs sorted out their relationships and get along well. We would not, however, recommend a pack with another male dog.
He is neutered, current on shots, microchipped, heartworm negative, taking heartworm and flea preventative, and is house trained. He’s untested with cats – so slow introduction would be best.
Renley is easy going and enjoys daily walks. He would thrive in an environment where you are home most of the time. Renley is being fostered in Georgetown. If you’re interested in adopting Renley, please fill out an application available on the “adopt” page of our website.
