Juno, STAR #2034

Juno came to STAR from the shelter in Kerrville and we are happy to report we found her a wonderful home with the Selvidge family. She’ll have an Aussie brother/running buddy, Tucker (left). This family loves to go camping, and to the beach — and we know Juno (right) will fit right in with all the trips and she’ll enjoy all the TLC she’ll get with this dog savvy family (daughter is a vet tech!).  Thank you to Julie for fostering and to Lisa on transport and Tracy on the home visit.

Juno came to STAR from the shelter in Kerrville. She’s an incredibly sweet black tri female around 3 years old and 40lbs. Since with STAR, she’s been full vetted, microchipped, and spayed. She’s heartworm negative and on heartworm preventative. Her Bio:

Juno is beautifully behaved total love bug. She’s housebroken, shows zero aggression, and just wants to be by your side 24×7. She’s very sensitive to sounds, loud voices, and quick movements – somewhat fearful and skittish. This has gotten better as she has settled, though she still behaves in a very cautious manner.

She’s in a home with an older male Aussie and gets along fine with him – though he’s not very interactive with her. She’d do well with another laid back dog and would probably like one that would play with and wrestle with her some. She’s addicted to her person, and you will not sit anywhere without her asking to come up into your lap or be right at your feet. She may not even ask to come up as she will army-crawl into your lap and up to your neck to get as close as she can for love and belly scratches.

She’ll shy away from strangers at first, but once you are trusted, she’ll give you her belly to rub and enthusiastic licks to your hands, working up to your face. Really, she’s very loving and affectionate, Velcro without being annoying – and knows when it’s time to settle and takes correction well. She’s a sensitive soul.

She loves walks – but has zero leash manners with lots of zig zagging and circles around you – so that’s a work in progress. She’ll want to meet other people and other dogs as long as they seem friendly – any barks at her will have her cowering behind you and trying to get away.

There have been zero scuffles over food, and she will easily give up her food to another dog that wants it. In fact, she has no issue if the others try to take her food – she just back off and allows them to chow down or take her treats.

I crated her at the beginning, which was a wrestling chore, even with treats. It took a lot of patience and positive words, and treats – and she’ll go in but still require a butt push. She’s not a happy camper in the crate – but will settle over time.

She knows all her basics like sit – stay – down. She’s not one to play with toys. She’s simply a lover who wants to be by your side for scratches- and she will use her paw to gently remind you that need to keep the pets going.

She is not tested with young children or cats, but I have no reason to believe she’d not do fine with both and slow introductions key.

She has a beautiful, silky coat that is naturally short, and very loving brown eyes that can talk you into treats. She’s a very beautiful, stunning girl.

Juno’s foster home is south of Austin. Please complete an application to be considered as an adopter, learn more about and meet her.

Juno came to STAR from the shelter in Kerrville, dropped off by the owner who had “too many dogs.” She’s recently had a litter of puppies. She’s a blue merle female, around 3 years old and 40lbs. STAR will get her vetted, spayed and evaluated in a foster home in Austin. She may be available early October.
