AVAILABLE DOG

Mariah, STAR #2105

Mariah is a 3-year-old, Black Tri Female who weighs around 40lbs. She came to STAR after her owner passed and the family was unable to keep her. She’s been loved on in her foster home for a few weeks and is ready to find her forever home.

About this Girl – From Mariah’s Foster Mom:

Mariah continues to follow the routine at our house. She is just precious!  Darling!  Adorable!  She is excellent on a leash and loves to go for her walks and play ball, and knows all the basic commands…sit, shake, lay.  She crates up and is quiet all night. She has a serious wiggle butt and loves “zooming around the backyard at high speeds”, laughing all the way.

She gets along great with the other dogs in the home. She’s not tested with cats nor young children – but would likely do fine with slow introductions.

She is very skittish around men and a little bit “woofy” at first but is warming up to her foster dad and we are so happy with her bravery and progress each day! An all-human-girl household may be easier for her but not opposed to adopting her to a home with men who are very patient and understand that it may take a while for her to come around.

From the previous owner’s family, we’re told that as an older puppy, she did have a couple seizure incidents, so the vet put her on a low dose med and have not seen any re-occurrence. She may be able to be weaned off of it, but we have not attempted this since so much has changed in her life from her previous owner passing away, a bit of juggling with family and then to STAR.

Mariah’s foster home is in the New Braunfels area. Since with STAR, she’s been fully vaccinated, is HW-, on heartworm preventative, and been spayed. Please complete an application to be considered as an adopter, learn more about and meet her.

IMPORTANT: We do not deliver dogs to adopters – you must meet the dog in their foster home. A home visit by one of our STAR volunteers is a required part of our adoption program. Because of these requirements, adoptions outside of Texas are rare. You must have a secure fence in place, and we are not fans of apartments for this breed, nor homes where the dogs will be home alone 8+ hours daily. All STAR dogs are adopted to be inside pets with family members only, and all current or past pets in the home must have proof of being kept up to date on vaccinations and Heartworm prevention. The adoption fee is $300 and trust us, we spend that or much more on dogs to get them vetted – all STAR dogs will be neutered/spayed, up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, heartworm negative, and on monthly heartworm prevention. If you already have an application on file with us, you can contact us to let us know you are interested.

Mariah is a beautiful 3 year old black tri female and weighs 50 pounds.  Sadly, one of her owners passed away and Mariah was spending a lot of time alone and in doggie daycare.  She will be evaluated and vetted in her foster home in New Braunfels and should be ready for adoption in late May.  So far, she is settling in nicely and getting lots of attention.
