Apollo, STAR #2048

G’day.  My name is Apollo.  I know, I know, I’m not really from Australia but I’m a stunningly handsome one year old red tri male. I have beautiful pale blue eyes with a distinctive brown marking next to my right eye. I weigh 39 pounds and have been fully vetted, neutered and microchipped. My original owners purchased me from a breeder. After my puppy cuteness wore off, I was banished to the backyard where I had little to no socialization – and they entrusted STAR to help find him a great home.

From his foster mom:

Apollo is a very happy, energetic boy.  He has been friendly to everyone, even my young grandchildren. He loves to give kisses. Due to his high energy, he would do best with older children. He became friends with my female Aussie right away. He hasn’t shown any aggression with food or toys. In fact, he loves a good game of tug with my dog, and they have worked treat puzzles together. Apollo plays rough and at times, is like a pesky little brother to my Aussie.  His favorite thing to do is run, run, run, in the backyard.

Apollo loves and feels safe in his crate. He goes in easily with or without a treat. He is quiet in the crate unless he needs to go outside to potty. He sleeps through the night. Apollo hasn’t had any accidents in the house.  He goes straight to the toy basket for toys and then throws them in the air, plays a game of tug with my dog or makes sure they no longer have any stuffing.  Apollo’s favorite food is a peanut butter filled Kong. Since he is so energetic and curious, Apollo hasn’t been left unsupervised in the house for any length of time.

Apollo appears to have a high pre drive.  So, probably no cats for this boy or small animals that run. Apollo has some amazing jumping skills. He has the potential to make a great sports dog. He has shown a lot of interest in frisbees but hasn’t caught one yet and also loves to chase tennis balls. Apollo is fast!  So, maybe frisbee, flyball or agility are in his future.

Apollo needs leash training and basic manners.  He is a blank slate ready to learn.  Did I mention he has a lot of energy?!

If you are interested in learning more about this handsome boy, your first steps is to complete an adoption application available on our website under “Adopt” – we’ll review and get back to you ASAP.  His foster home is in Friendswood.

Apollo has joined STAR! He’s a very handsome red tri male, approximately 1 year old and 30lbs – stunning blue eyes. His owners simply did not have time to invest in him and did not like that he barks and digs. We’ll get him assessed and find him a home after evaluation and vetting. He may be available mid-November. His foster home is in Friendswood.
