Biscuit, STAR #2147

❤️ Biscuit is looking for her forever family!

This sweet girl is another of STAR’s Louisiana breeder dogs, and she’s slowly discovering what it means to live in a home, be part of a family – and enjoy some of the little things in life, including toys, couch cuddles and ice cubes from the kitchen.

She arrived with little confidence around people and was frightened by many everyday sights and sounds. Biscuit has made significant progress, but she still needs a calm, patient home that understands trust will develop at her pace. Once she decides you are one of her people, she is affectionate, silly and generous with kisses.

Biscuit may bark when she is unsure or startled by unfamiliar people and unexpected noises. These reactions have improved greatly, but her adopter must be comfortable reading canine body language, respecting her boundaries and continuing to build her confidence without forcing interactions.

Friendly, confident dogs have helped Biscuit tremendously. She watches her foster siblings, plays with them outside and now joins their morning cuddle pile on the bed instead of retreating to her kennel. Her kennel remains an important safe space, and she happily takes her toys there—although stuffed toys may not survive long!

Biscuit still needs basic training and work on leash skills. Her ideal home is quiet and predictable, with some prior Aussie experience.   A busy household or one with young children would not be a good fit. Another friendly, confident dog would be especially beneficial.  For the patient adopter who finds joy in earning a dog’s trust one small victory at a time, Biscuit will be worth every single step!

Biscuit is house trained, spayed, microchipped, fully vaccinated, and current on heartworm prevention. She is currently fostered in a home Cypress and ready to find her forever home. If you’d like to learn more about her or are interested in adopting, the first step is to complete an adoption application at the link below.

IMPORTANT: We do not deliver dogs to adopters – you must be able and willing to come meet the dog in their foster home. A home visit by one of our STAR volunteers is a required part of our adoption program and thus, adoptions outside of Texas are rare because of these two requirements. You must have a secure fence in place, and we are not fans of apartments for this breed, nor homes where the dogs will be home alone 8+ hours daily. All STAR dogs are adopted to be inside pets and family members only and all current or past pets in the home must have proof of being kept up to date on vaccinations and Heartworm prevention. The adoption fee is $400 and trust us, we spend that or much more on dogs to get them vetted – all STAR dogs will be neutered/spayed, up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, heartworm negative, and on monthly heartworm prevention. If you already have an application on file with us, you can contact us to let us know you are interested.

We have another very special girl to introduce from our Louisiana Baker’s Dozen Plus 1 rescue group.

Biscuit is a beautiful 2½-year-old blue merle female, weighs 45 pounds and has officially begun her journey with STAR. Like the other dogs from this heartbreaking cruelty/breeding situation, she came to us needing something she should have always had – a chance to feel safe, cared for, and loved.

As she becomes more comfortable, we’ll get to know her personality, her quirks, and all the wonderful things that make her uniquely her. We’ll share updates as she continues to make progress.

Biscuit is being fostered in the Houston area.  She is fully vetted and spayed.  We will hold off listing her as available for now until we feel she is ready for her new family.

Please join us in welcoming this beautiful blue merle girl to the STAR family. Her journey is just beginning, and we’re honored to be part of it. 🐾❤️
