Rosie, STAR #1995

This is Rosie – a lovely, 6-year-old Black Tri female. 44 lbs of total sweetheart that came to STAR as her family was not able to care for her.  Here’s her bio, in her own words:

“Hi, my name is Rosie, I’m a 6-year-old BTF who is looking for new home.  I led a life in the country as a single dog, but I’m making the transition to a city dog with a foster brother right now.

I am very friendly with everyone I meet, including kids and most dogs. I love to go ANYWHERE as long as it’s with you. Being a country dog, I spent a lot of time outside & off leash, but I’m slowly getting used to walks on the leash, but you can’t undo 6-1/2 years in 4 weeks.

In my foster home, I split my time hanging out with either of my peoples, lying at their feet or up on the bed (which is the best). At my country home, when I was allowed inside, I had to stay in a crate. I’m ok in a crate for a bit – but would rather be at your feet. At my STAR home, I have the run of the house & I’m very good.

I did at times suffer from a little separation anxiety at first but am much better now that I’ve been here a month. I am bothered by thunder & lightening, as well as loud booms & noises, it just upsets me and puts me off my game.

I’ve been able to adapt to a number of changes in my lifestyle routines, like when I get feed & I have to eat it all immediately or else my foster brother will come goggle it up.

I have not yet learned how to communicate the need to go outside, so for now my people just give me lots of opportunities, that’s just how things are in the city. I used to lick at my feet some, but the vet said it was probably allergies and/or anxiety from staying in the crate while inside at my last home, plus the fact that the hair between my toes needs to be kept trimmed so it’s not so tempting.

I’m not much of a player with toys etc. but I do like my Nyla bones & Kongs with peanut butter. I like ice too, but as with food, my foster brother has to be kept away till I finish mine at my own pace. I don’t mind getting brushed – but will say I’m not a fan of having my nails trimmed. I don’t bark a lot at various things as I leave that chore to my foster brother, who is exceptional at barking.

I am like a pair of comfortable broken-in jeans and want to find a new home & pack to adopt me.”

Rosie’s foster home is in Houston. Please complete an application to be considered as an adopter, learn more about and meet her.
