Levi, STAR #2077

Hi there! I’m Levi!

I’m a fun-loving red merle Australian Shepherd who will turn 1 year old on April 29th, and I weigh about 42 pounds of pure Aussie energy and charm. My foster mom says my coloring is super unique—and my eyes are pretty special too. One is the color of the earth, and the other is the color of the sky!

I’m crate trained and house trained, and I absolutely love toys. Throw a ball and I’m off! I might not always catch it mid-air (still working on that skill), but I will happily chase it down and bring it back… most of the time. Fetch is a work in progress, but enthusiasm? I’ve got plenty!

I would be perfectly happy as an only dog, but if you already have a playful pup, even better! In my foster home I’m always trying to convince my doggy friends to play. Sometimes they say yes, and sometimes they say no… but I can be a little like a persistent little brother who keeps trying until they give in.

My recall is fantastic, and I know my basic commands. Like most young Aussies, I’m still in my “teenage phase,” which means I have lots of energy and excitement to share. I’m eager to please and very treat-motivated, which makes training fun for both of us. I’m still working on a few things—like remembering not to jump up when I’m excited to meet people—but I’m a quick learner.

On walks I’m a happy, enthusiastic leash buddy, so a little consistency will help me polish those leash manners. I also take my role as neighborhood alert system seriously—if something interesting passes by outside, I might give a bark to let you know. Safety first!

I’m also a great car rider and love adventures.

At home, I’m very well behaved. I stay in my crate when my humans are away, but at night I prefer to sleep outside of it—and I’ve been perfectly trustworthy and non-destructive. Mostly, I just like to follow my people from room to room so I can be part of whatever’s going on.

I previously lived in a home with a baby and did well, though I haven’t been around young children in my foster home. I haven’t met cats yet, but I might be tempted to chase one at first—so slow introductions would be important.

My dream home would be an active family who enjoys playtime, walks, training, and adventures. I’d also love a dog friend who’s ready to romp and play. If nobody’s available, I’m pretty good at entertaining myself with toys and chewies.

Most of all, I’m just a happy, affectionate boy who wants to learn, play, and be part of a family. With a little guidance and love, I’m going to grow into an amazing canine citizen.

Levi is currently in a foster home in Pearland. He is fully vaccinated, heartworm negative, on preventative, and neutered.

If you’re ready for a loyal, playful companion with eyes like earth and sky, Levi might just be your perfect match. Please complete an application to learn more and meet him!

IMPORTANT: We do not deliver dogs to adopters. You must be able and willing to come meet the dog in their foster home. A home visit by one of our STAR volunteers is a required part of our adoption program. Adoptions outside of Texas are rare because of these requirements. You must have a secure fence in place, and we are not fans of apartments for this breed, nor homes where the dogs will be home alone 8+ hours daily. All STAR dogs are adopted to be inside pets and family members only and all current or past pets in the home must have proof of being kept up to date on vaccinations and Heartworm prevention. The adoption fee is $300 and trust us, we spend that or much more on dogs to get them vetted – all STAR dogs will be neutered/spayed, up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, heartworm negative, and on monthly heartworm prevention. If you already have an application on file with us, you can contact us to let us know you are interested.

Levi is a 10 month old red merle male and weighs 40 pounds.  He was spending a lot of alone time outside and in his crate.  He is now a STAR dog and we will find him the perfect home.  Levi will be fostered and vetted in the Houston area and should be ready for adoption sometime in early March.
